Now that the brackets are out for the playoffs, who do you see as meeting in the finals??

 

These are my predictions barring any injuries/unforeseen circumstances.

 

1A-Mayfield/Pikeville (I want to pick Hazard as my dad played there, but Pikeville has that win already, Williamsburg and Beechwood/Frankfort loom large)

2A-Christian Academy (Lou)/Newport Central Catholic (Why not?)

3A-Corbin/Belfry (On the western side about 7 other teams could be worthy, if Belfry is healthy I think they win the east)

4A- North Oldham/Highlands (The western half is anybodies guess at this point, might as well take NO)

5A-Bowling Green/Southwestern (Will Pulaski's QB be back?)

6A-Scott Co./Ballard (see comments for 4A and apply to both brackets here)

When a very good football team gets no respect it should fuel them to succeed...Then when you succeed the naysayers and the haters can pay respect and get on board

 

The problem is that even if SK should be in conversation, which I think they probably should be, but unfortunately it like resetting the timer button every single daggone time your programs is mentioned and that is a bad thing imo.

 

The kid thinks he is cute and funny but even I know when enough is enough and when it is time to pay the respect to teams and programs that deserve credit...

 

I actually believe when these types of threads pop up anymore people purposely try and not set an adult conversation up for a four page romper room rampage instead they just want to have civil conversations...so yes NO SK

Eh.. It's ok.. Sites like this were made for discussion.

 

I truly think Simon Kenton is one of five teams from the lower half of the bracket that have a chance to proceed to the finals. I chose Ballard based upon the way they have improved throughout the season. I know Simon Kenton has been banged up this year, but man they got manhandled by Dixie the first time they played. I wouldn't be surprised if they won the rematch but I also wouldn't be surprised if they lost to Lafayette in round 2. It's just that kind of year.

2a - Desales - W.Verona

 

Umm you might be stretching it with Walton Veron in the state finals, they Newport on their side of the bracket in the opening two rounds(Newport defeated them in week 2) and if they make it past them then they will have to play most likely Newport Central Catholic unless a major upset happens. Finally, if Walton Verona makes it past the region they will have to travel to title town to most likely face Danville.........I don't like Walton Verona's odds in these matchups at all.

I agree. I don't put much stock in Newport's 10 point win in August other than the fact they held WV 200 yds rushing, about 120/game under their season average. I feel Newport played a stronger schedule and wins this game.

None of those teams put too much fear into me.. Newport did beat WV in a close game earlier in the year, I like them in the rematch as I think they're playing very good football right now.. NCC is nothing close to the NCC of the past few years. They're very similar in talent to Newport and like I said, I like the way they're playing right now versus how NCC is. I'm actually leaning toward Prestonsburg in the semi's as I think they have the most talent in that region, but, by the time WV gets to them, they're going to be riding high on big back to back victories and feeling good about themselves, while I think the Burg's inconsistency plagues them in the semi's.. Back to back great games and due for a letdown game..

5A- Bowling Green vs. Southwestern/ Pulaski ( depends on if Pulaski QB is back)

FYI-- Male and C. Hardin are in the same semi's bracket so they will meet in final four not the state championship. I don't think C. Hardin can beat Bryan Station IMO. But good wishful thinking.
