October 29, 201411 yr I asked this in the other thread and didn't get a response. I start off by saying I'm a Notre Dame football fan so no bias here. But those calling bias seem a lot like haters. I like to base arguments based on facts . The SEC by every statically measurement is not only the best conference but it isn't close. NFL draft picks, current players , recruiting classes, titles , out of conference wins , bowl wins, human rankings , computer rankings and the list goes on . I hope the SEC west eats each other up like I expect and the SEC will only get one team in the Final Four. But the backlash is more to do with the dislike of all the SEC has and how loud their fans are about it. There is no logical fact based argument against saying the SEC is the best conference by a pretty wide margin.
October 30, 201411 yr Or Miss State really only being a TD better than UK. But it was in Lexington and Toby Keith was there. Toby Keith on your sidelines is worth at least 4 points in Vegas
October 30, 201411 yr Phyllis from Alabama When I heard her rant while driving, I almost ran off the road I laughed so hard...
October 30, 201411 yr I will add this. When a Penn State takes an Ohio State to the limit, it's because their conference stinks. When an SEC bottom-feeder pushes a powerhouse, it's because their conference is great. This year, yes. But it is more than that. Look at the eye test also. Watch the difference in the Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn's this year and look at Ohio State. They are on a different playing field this year. The Big 10 is not good that is easy to see. Outside of Michigan State, and an above average Ohio State, who do they have. No one. Penn State is probably the 4th best team in the Big 10 and I am not sure they could beat Florida, or even Kentucky this year.
October 30, 201411 yr I wish other conferences produced teams like the SEC does but you just don't see as many good teams. Call it bias, call it favoritism, but I am going to call it the best football in the country with the best players in the country. I think other conferences have good football teams, but not nearly as many as the SEC and not as dominant at the top for such a long period of time as teams in the SEC.
October 30, 201411 yr Stop. :lol2: I am with you that is a little extreme, but I bet only or 3 SEC teams would lose at Penn State. I'd give you Vandy, Missouri, and either UK/UT. All other SEC teams would win that game. (this year) I think Penn State will be very good in the future
October 31, 201411 yr Author Sarcasm is hard on the internet, eh Joker? Sarcasm on the Internet is a sport of it's own. Heard Skip Bayless saying it during his morning show and thought it'd be nice to relay some of his message and start a firestorm. I did think he made a good point about the love they get being deserved. Living in Texas and being around tons of UT (Austin) alums, I hear tons of hate, but I see a product they put on the field that wouldn't challenge it. If they were TCU, Baylor or Oklahoma fans, then I'd feel different.
October 31, 201411 yr Author Or Miss State really only being a TD better than UK. But it was in Lexington and Toby Keith was there. I don't really know of anyone buying Mississippi State as the best team in the country. They are number 1 because they are undefeated and play in the SEC, but I don't think for a minute that they're the best team and most people are just writing them off as a placeholder until they get beaten.
October 31, 201411 yr SEC overrated! Since the BCS was started in 1998, there have been 16 champions crowned. 9 of those champions were from the SEC. Next in total titles by conference would be the Big 12 and the ACC, each tied with 2. When the SEC made the titles game, the conference's representative only lost twice- and one of those losses was to another SEC team. This is a big reason why I think they are and have been the best. Do you care to share why you think they are overrated?
