I think it was the smart thing to do... With the WC game starting at 8:30 CST, instead of the originally scheduled 8:00 CST and with the long drive on both ends, those boys will be tired and in no shape to play the next day. Those buses won't be pulling out of WC until 11:30 CST. And with a four hour drive with a stop along the way, means they won't be pulling into HHS until 4 am at the earliest. I think with injuries that the Varsity team has sustained over the past few weeks has really meant that they have probably had to pull up a lot of their JV games.

Yeah, I went back and read the thread and noticed we never got an explanation from the CovCath side as to why things went down the way that it did. That's super weird to me. At the same time, I know a majority of Highlands posters on here don't agree with this game being canceled but it is ironic that some of the things that were said in that thread last year by Highlands fans to CovCath fans are being said by non-Highlands fans to Highlands fans this year.

 

Makes for an interesting dialogue.

I know it has been mentioned in other threads before but why does this tradition of JV games on Saturday have to be held to? We play JV games on Monday nights down here and we never have these kinds of issues pop up. Schedule them on Monday nights and this issue disappears. Very rarely are JV games canceled down this way.

 

I'll also add that this is case of scheduling gone wrong. A little more attention to detail and this issue is avoided. I don't think this is a case Highlands intentionally avoiding Scott County but it unintenionally can give off that perception for those who are willing to pounce on every move Highlands makes.

The Saturday games work well with what the varsity coaches want done. By playing Saturday morning the varsity coaches can take the varsity players and go over film without the distraction that 50 more players can bring. The 50 JV players get valuable game time and everybody is back for practice Monday after school. While it can be a burden when having to travel it really does allow for a much more complete practice on Monday.

I didn't expect CCH fans to explain last year as if they're like us, they don't know all the particulars of what happened to their JV, no more than the rumors we're getting this year. Not too many coaches are interested in getting on BGP to explain their decisions.

Not sure why the difference in days. Saturdays can result in some scrambling after long away games. Not sure how Monday night would sit with having to come back to full pad practice the next day and only having 3 days until the Varsity game.

I'm not going back to look, but I thought I read somewhere the game was not cancelled and it had been moved back to a later time. Can anyone confirm this?

Highlands is and always will be a polarizing topic on BGP. Scott County fans aren't needed to weigh in on the game for this to be a polarizing topic.

No, just found it interesting that so many are concerned but SC apparently is not.

 

I'm sure there is a fan that knows. At least that's my impression. I know from the HHS side there has been plenty of information on the team over the years that simply doesn't make BGP. I'm sure that is true of CCH and other programs.

Mute point, next year they have to be played on Mondays and teams dont have a choice. Plus with the new 6 quarters rule, gonna make things interesting.
