I think Doss has potential to be a dark horse in 4a. As mentioned above, they are not a team to "win it all" but a team that could spoil it for someone else. I had the chance to watch Doss a few times this year and they have a load of talent but very little discipline. They have 2 d1 kids that are studs. They played a tough non district schedule which included PRP, Meade Co, Central, Seneca, and Butler, which resulted in majority of their loses. I look for Doss to win a few games in the playoffs before discipline takes over.

By this time of year, IMO anyone other than HHS and Owensboro can be spoilers. My top 2 picks for spoilers will be Boyle and Collins.

Boyle Co a spoiler? C'mon man! Boyle Co is a contender. To be tagged as a spoiler, you must be not in the radar, an underdog, a team with a sub-par season or record. Collins can play that part, but definitely not Boyle Co.

Well I have been on Boyle band wagon all year. Took a pounding for it. Just saying odds are stacked against them now and when they beat highlands they will be a spoiler.

I also think of a spoiler as someone under the radar. To me that would exclude Boyle Co as well as anyone else in the top 6-7. Boyle has been the team I've pegged as a favorite all year. Under Smith I believe the longer they go the more dangerous they become.

I would include Johnson Central as a dark horse. I think it is crazy to rank them in the top 3 in 4A because of their weak schedule. I am not saying that they are not a top 3 team, just that they have had no opportunity to earn that rank yet. To warrant such a lofty ranking, I think that the Golden Eagles need to easily handle Ashland tonight and also beat Belfry - and that assumes that Belfy plays at near full strength.

With North Oldham, Collins and Spencer Co., whoever emerges as the Region winner will get home field against Owensboro/Madisonville/Franklin Simpson/Warren East Region winner - and they could play spoiler so I would agree those 3 could be on the West Side.

 

I wouldn't count Mville or FS as a dark horse, but I think Warren East has the potential to play spoiler also.

 

I think North Oldham and Collins are more likely to have the potential to play spoiler than Spencer. Spencer County has yet to prove that they can win in the playoffs. They have only won 1 playoff game ever, and that was against 2-8 Doss in 2011.

Could win by 3-4 touchdowns - you seem to be struggling with that phrase. If JC is not 3 touchdowns better than Ashland, then Covington Catholic probably does not need to worry about missing the regional finals. Ashland's best teams have not fared very well in match-ups with JC during the Matney area and this is not one of the top Tomcats teams.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Three famous phrases in sports. They "could" win by 3-4 td's is a pretty vague statement. A lot of teams could beat equal teams by that on a given night. What I am saying if JC is a legit contender they need to beat Ashland by 4 td's. In my mind Ashland is not a contender, JC is an unknown since teams refuse to play them.
