NDA gets the vast majority of high level club players available each year. (No idea why they all go to NDA, wish someone could explain it). That really sets them apart from the pack. Lots of teams have good athletes (NCC is an example). NDA gets great soccer players.

No...and I can tell you I have used sayings myself to work on my team's brains when I felt they look at an opposing player as a goddess. I have said things like "she puts her pants on just like you". "She gets up and eats poptarts before school...just like you!". "She is not as good as you make her out to be". And I'm sure many other things in the heat of the moment or trying to fire my kids up. Basically telling them to quit looking at them as being better and get out there and take it to them. You are just as good as what you're playing against.

 

I was not there, but if we feel calling a couple of players on a soccer team "overrated" is really that bad, I hate to see what's going on on other sidelines...like football games. It's part of the mental game you play with players to make them believe they have a shot at winning against a team that many feel are untouchable in NKY.

This is very true. I've heard of entire elite club soccer teams plotting to go to ND together. I have no problem with it at all, but you don't have to look far to know why they are good.

All girls school does things for those students' self-esteem, their confidence that is hard to see without experiencing it first hand. And the single gender student body makes it easier for the student to focus on academics for those 6-7 hours each school day. Academics are the main reasons most parents send their children to NDA. They probably have more students from non-feeder schools, students from other counties then the school is located, then any another diocesan or private school in the area, says a lot about what they do there.

Plotting? I think that may be too strong a word. If it is the players, perhaps hoping might be a better one. With the tuition rates at NDA, it is doubtful that every player on a club team will be going there. If it is the parents, I doubt that the primary motivation for planning on a NDA education is soccer. Likely, that is just a bonus for their daughters.

I think KHSAA should look at moving private schools to their own division. You have 2 private schools competing for the regional title and probably NDA will advance quickly in the state. This happens year after year!!! Let the private schools battle it out in their own league!! Who really cares who wins at that point.

Would a public school state championship really be a state championship if the winner did not have to beat the best teams in the state? They would always be the * state champion.

I wouldn't say that NDA has the best academics out of the private schools so i would say that isn't the reason they go to NDA. They go because they always field a strong State contending soccer team. That can also be said about volleyball. I bet the soccer and volleyball girls go for the sports not the academics. Don't get me wrong NDA has top notch academics but to say that these soccer and volleyball players go there for the academics first is a little nieve.

Whatever you want to call it...it's the first word that came to mind. And it was intended for meaning the "girls are hoping". But some of it does come true. I know that first hand. May not be the entire team, but girls to talk about going their together and it happens. Again, I could care less. But it does happen. It happens in Vball too. I have no issues with it. Someone has to be the best and it makes it fun when you beat them!

Why??? Hear this all the time and it's ridiculous. Do you want two state champs then? So then the winner of the public school state would always have that feeling "could we have beat the others??" and you would never know. For me, that would be a terrible feeling. I would rather play them and know than take home a state championship and wonder if I was really the best team in the state or not.
