Less than 7 mill a year for 20 point a game scorer is a steal. Nick Young is 4 years 21.5 million. A little over 5 million a year for a 20 point scorer. It'd be stupid for the Lakers to pay that kind of money for a point guard when they are overpaying Lin and Nash. Get rid of Lin and Nash for Thomas and it works for me but who wants either one of them?

Yet the Lakers could have afforded at least one Superstar, maybe two - Agreed? Yet no Superstar came - Fact? My list was by no means a list of who the Lakers should have went after, but it would be shocking that LA could not get something better than what they got. They got Nick Young, a guy on his fourth team in three years, yep, that sounds like a steal! No, I take that back, it sounds like desparation! He was on the Lakers last year and came back. If playing with Kobe is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad why would he come back when he can go somewhere else and play? He chose to come back. Why is a 20 PPG scorer like Nick Young not capable of disqualifying the whole "nobody wants to play with Kobe crap"? Ramon Sessions is a more credible source? You kidding me? LA is an attractive destination when they are capable of compteting for a title. They simply aren't that good and as we have stated multiple times in this thread Kobe's contract has more to do with that than Kobe's personality. The article is not trying to make that point though.

As for the roster being as bad as it is, well, same demoninator, Kobe - no one wanted to come there except 50 yo PG's who still want a check! October 22, 201411 yr Author This is Kobe's team because the Laker management said so. Kobe has won 5 titles. 5 rings. Been in the Finals 7 times. He's done it his way for a majority of his career. He's been a Laker and likely always will be. The Laker management gave him 40+ million over this year and next year. Why should he change who he is for anyone when the Laker management is paying him money to not pass the torch? If we really want to break it down....Lebron has 2 titles and has lost in the Finals 4 times. He had to form the Heatles to do so. Why should Kobe do it "Lebron's Way" when the "Kobe Way" has been more fruitful? I'll hang up and wait for an answer.

And just like those are all history, there WAS the Kobe way! Kobe will NOT change who he is. And Kobe will go down as one of the greatest to ever play. But, those days of greatness are history as the Celtics greatness is history. Kobe should not change, and I like it that way. Because as long as Kobe is in LA, LA will be no better than first round fodder in the playoffs!

Yep that's my point, Clippers have everything going for them from a location point that the Lakers do...but over the years players didn't go there because it was a poorly run organization. With Dr. Buss gone the Lakers aren't anymore attractive than the Clippers are...the difference was in the ownership and how they treated the players.

As someone stated earlier, Mitch, Buss or someone should have brought Kobe into the office, closed the door, and had it out with him, letting him know something has to change, and have been willing to let him go if it didn't. They can't complain too loudly when they had complete control, or should have, of the situation. Kobe also has to realize he is 36 year old Kobe, not 28 year old Kobe, and he needs more help now and can't be relied on to be "the man", no matter how bad he want's that. It's just a fact of getting "athletically old". Because of this, he has to change some. But it sounds like he just isn't willing to do that and in doing so, in my opinion, shows no loyalty to the Lakers.

Front offices don't pay people 24 million dollars a season to change. They pay people 10 million dollars a year to change. What message is the front office sending to Kobe that says they want him to change when they are paying him 1/3 of the salary cap?

Front office doesn't have the guts to do what they need to do. Kobe is who he is, for good or bad, and until the front office does something about it or he changes, it's all on them.
