Running Wild 4-Mile Trail Run

I will be doing this on Saturday November 1st in Frankfort, Ky. Any other BGP members plan on doing this? I would love to meet you if you are.

That's awesome! Go luck!

I plan to sign up today. I didn't realize this race was happening. Salato Wild Life Reserve is only 5 to 10 mins. from my home. The proceeds support the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation, so it is a good cause. I will only be running socially as I am way past any competitive urgings.

I would but I am doing the Shakertown Trail Half Marathon on the same day. I've done this race a couple of years ago.

I'm by no means a competitive runner, as a matter of fact I mostly walk. I just like doing them for the exercise and the time I enjoy with my friends. I'll be wearing an Amy For Africa shirt. I don't know how many people usually do this race, but look me up if you happen to see me.

I will get in touch with you before the race so we can arrange a meet-up. Good luck!

I am signed up along with Mrs. Doomer, although she may not be able to make it. I am in Auburn, Alabama this week visiting our new granddaughter, so I went to the state park and took to the trails to run yesterday. It is quite a challenge to run mountain bike trails...not easy with a poorly functioning knee. Depending on what they mean by trails at this event, I will definitely be taking it slowly.

If the trails are even moderately technical, trail running becomes a whole other beast than road running. My girlfriend is a HUGE trail runner...so I am also a trail runner. :lol2:

I DID NOT need to hear that. :banghead::banghead::banghead::down::no::no: This is my pace :walk::walk:

I've walked many a hill on a trail.

It's a lot easier on the joints and tons more scenery though. I do like it, I'm just not very good at it. If it's a true trail i.e. "dirt" then pay special attention to where your feet are about to land. It's quite easy to face plant on a trail.

Good advice. I used to do this in Colorado in a past life. I haven't run a trail in years before yesterday. I just picked my way along the paths yesterday because the trip/slip factor is very high. However, the focus on the trail takes away the monotony of jogging, so it was really nice. I was also managing my daughter's German Shephard who luckily didn't take me down. Three miles took a while though.

It may be a little brisk this AM.:isurrender: I still plan to participate....we will see about Mrs. Doomer. My goal will be to start and finish. I am not sure of it I will actually jog since I may have on 20 pounds of clothes. :idunno:
