I watched and loved this series, but who would want to buy these action figures?

 

Adults who are really, really into the show. Same type of people who bought figurines from the "Lost" series.

 

Who do you think would buy one of these? Hint, it's not kids. I've wanted one for years.

 

Contrary to popular belief, there's a big market for toys geared toward adults. Same way that just because it's a cartoon doesn't automatically mean it's for kids.

This is what is wrong with society. Drugs are destroying our children and they have figurines out for 15 yr olds to buy that glorify drug use and illegal activities. If it's an adult section shouldn't they have to be adults to purchase?

I disagree they are ghost towns the rest of the year. We are in there several times through out the year for our kids birthdays or other kids in the family. While they aren't busting at the seams they are busy. I also don't disagree with them losing money and eventually they will be out of business, at least under the current business model. I also am not surprised that Wal-Mart sells more overall. For 1 they have 5 times the number of stores in the US.

When my kids need a birthday gift for another kid, I go to Kroger and buy a Toys R Us gift card. What kid is not happy to get that?

 

It's a win win. I get the double gas points at Kroger and they can go select their favorite Breaking Bad figure. :lol2:

I'm usually all against these kinds of protests, but I think the parent has a point here.

 

If I had a kid, I wouldn't buy them the toy, especially if it were a smaller kid (well, maybe if they were like 4 or 5 and didn't really know anything about it at all, then I'd buy it for them then because it'd be funny, harmless, and would probably genuinely upset people who had a stick up their butt, which would give me a good laugh if nothing else), then I wouldn't be buying it for them.

 

Cartoons like Spongebob or Disney movies like Shrek have a ton of "adult" references that will normally fly over kid's heads and are a way for parents to also get something out of it when their kids are watching them, but if Toys R Us is going to brand themselves as a specialty retailer for children, then this isn't a good move for them. The bag of meth with one of the figures definitely takes it too far in that sense. Like others have said, if it's a Spencer's or something similar, then I don't see the problem with it, but unless Toys R Us' marketing strategies have deviated from the "Toys R Us Kid" days that I remember, then this wasn't really the best move and is one that I'm sure plenty of people would have just as soon done without.

I just got a funny visual of you playing in a sand box with your Lost and Breaking Bad figurines and making all sorts of cool sound effects.

On a side note here, I read the first post and looked at the first picture. Then my eyes moved down the the add. For me it was was a t-shirt (seen in the image below). I got a chuckle out of the add and moved on to the next post. I read Mex's first five words and got a good laugh, then remembered that it had nothing to do with the picture I was seeing.

Good move by TRU. I honestly dont understand how the creator of these figures honestly thinks they should be marketed to teenagers?

 

I get the Adult Collectors, etc...but to teens it is ridiculous.
