Let's hear it folks. Who wins and why.

Battle for the number two seed. Should be a great game.

I think Newport exposes Lloyd's weaknesses much like NCC did and wins this one by 3+ scores.

I've not seen Lloyd but they're sporting a 7-1 record and Newport is 4-4.

Newport by couple td. Dom with big game against his old team

Check out who they have played. Look at their scores versus New Cath. Lloyd's strength of schedule may be the worst in all of 2A.

Just checked, looks like aside from NCC, the best team they played was Holmes.

I have seen both. Newport has a lot of speed and size. Every play is designed to be a cut back. I pick the Wildcats.

Newport wins this one IMO. Strength of schedule is the difference maker for me, although Lloyd has some very nice players.

Should be a good one; I think the Wildcats win closely.

Well you could look at it this way.......Lloyd vs NCC was 14-0 game in 4th quarter that ended up 28-0. Newport vs NCC game was 22-11 in 4th quarter that end 22-17. So......you could argue that at one point in the 4th quarter one team was down 14 and the other 11 so that would point to this being a close game.

But here is a stat......game is at Newport on turf. Check out how much Newport has played on turf versus Lloyd how often Lloyd has been on turf (which they have not played on except once) so I think that gives Newport a huge advantage. If Lloyd gets behind the wheels could come off......but if they can stay in range they will have a chance. I think Lloyd will be able to throw it effectively but only if they control when they want to throw it. On the other hand, I think Newport will have success running the ball all night.

Lloyd needs to clean up the penalties and turnovers in these big games. They had way to many chances against NCC but could never close the deal or sustain a positive drive. They area better team than they showed against NCC. I wish they played a stronger schedule. This should be a close game. All these guys played with Dom through junior high and are looking forward to playing against their friend. I am sure he is looking forward to it as well.

Another oddity to this game. If Newport wins they will be the 2 seed and likely have to play at Walton in Round 2 of the playoffs. If Newport loses they will be the 3 seed and likely have to play NCC in the second round but that game would be on their own field since NCC uses Newport's field.
