Can Dow return to Ballard?

I'm guessing he can. I'm not sure how it works with guardianship coming into play and if that makes a difference. I know that the Aaron Floyd kid who was at Boone County and transferred to CovCath was ruled ineligible to play football at CovCath and went back to Boone County and was eligible to play and rejoined the Boone County team. I'm thinking Dow could return to Ballard but I'm not sure if guardianship makes a difference. As of now it is my understanding that the Hagers have legal guardianship of him.

Told you all this one would not fly. Had a good home life.

What makes his situation different than say, the transfer from SW?

Hopefully everything works out for the kid.

It's not over yet. The bolded below can be proven.

CHANGE OF CUSTODY- The KHSAA shall not recognizeguardianship or similar arrangements made, for purposesof this bylaw. The period of ineligibility may be waived if it isshown that custody of the student has been taken from one orboth parents and given to the other parent or a third personby a court of competent jurisdiction and under circumstances indicating: (1) the parent(s) are unfi t or ( 2) the court

finds that

the health and welfare of the student would be better served bythe change in custody.

Just so you know, the KHSAA doesn't care what a kid's personal circumstances are - good or bad. If Dow and his mother had been homeless, it would not have impacted the KHSAA's decision. Their North Star is keeping their member schools happy and not rocking the boat.

So your saying his mom is unfit ? No way in the world.... she loves him more than life. Or your saying his Health and Welfare is at risk ? Again no way, just living in L-ville is not a risk or reason.

Those are your words not mine and I'm not getting ready to share their situation with you publicly. Speculate away. You seem to have a good grasp on the situation. :lol2: :lol2:

After the first four, its really anybody this season. First four teams are the ones in the hunt for region title.

There is no way Mercer Casey and East are ahead of West.

Didn't mercer and west split last year in regular season? Mercer was cruising in the 1st half of the district game tourney game last year and west came out in the 2nd half with gimmick half court trap and mercer never made an adjustment and got beat. Mercer didn't lose anybody. Did west gain anybody?

So you are saying Casey County is? Interesting.

To answer the question of the last poster, West lost far and away their best 2 players n Peters and Henderson. They return Ely and I really do like that kid. He's very underrated. Then there's the Holifield kid and he's decent. They lost the one transfer to East. What other players do they have that will make an impact? They also have a coaching advantage in most games as Kelley is definitely a top tier coach in the region.

Without Carson, I agree on East. No question. They still have Jones, who's is tough, and Smith, but the supporting cast is very weak. Mercer has Hager and Faulkner back as well as Davis returning. Davis is a kid that started varsity as an 8th grader but that missed the last two seasons due to injury. If Dow plays, which was assumed in the ranking that you responded to, I don't see any way you wouldn't put Mercer 5th - above West.

I'd really love to respond but I'm going to be nice. I would probably get some facts before I ranted about a kid and his family, though.
