-They aren't as good as last year. That team last year should have done some damage past the third round.

-I think they beat Dixie because of depth. But, "eye-test" wise, Dixie looks the part of a team that can beat them, especially if they establish the running game early and can avoid falling behind and playing catch-up. Dixie is a big physical team that is playing lights out right now, week in and week out. But, there has to be concern that they'll have more two-way players than SK.

They are pretty good for this area, but I know 3 sure ways to stop them.

History agrees with you and I too say this because they simply do not prepare themselves each yr for these types of teams, jmo

 

However, one of these yrs, even the sub par prep schedule will not get in the way of winning out...IDK if it is this yr but who knows:thumb:

 

They do seem to have some talented athletes by all accounts of reading this site.

SK has beat Henry Clay and Bryan Station in the past.

How good is any team not named BG or Male? 2014 is a puzzle.

I certainly respect Simon but I knew right away tonight (had nothing to do with the result) that Simon is down from last year and some other years in recent memory.

 

I don't disagree, but this years SK team has had to fight and claw more than last years, which IMO will be a good thing come playoff time.

It is hard to form an opinion on Simon Kenton. UK#1 would have us believe this is the best team Simon Kenton has ever had, yet they have struggled on the road to two of the worst 6A teams in the state. No knock on Boone or Ryle, but both programs would admit to not having the horses to compete. Campbell County did fool us once again, but they are not ready yet to prove they are a consistent football team that can win away from their own field. And I do not believe that Dixie is as good as last year, so to beat the Colonels will not be as impressive as much as a loss will prove that NKY 6A is the weakest it has ever been.

 

Same argument, different day. Until Simon Kenton has played a game against Cov Cath or Highlands, then they will continue to be "Boise State" claiming they deserve to be recognized alongside the SEC.

Racke is only a Sophomore QB but he has been playing QB since he was 6 or 7 years old and he is only going to get better and better. Powell is a work horse. SK has never had linebackers as big as they have this yea Hicks, Deaton, Gowen and Carter are all over 210 pounds and fly to the ball.

 

Last year no doubt, not even close.

 

The problem with this years lbs is that they cannot redirect and struggle in space, no way should Deaton be playing outside lb, put him in the middle and bring a better open field guy in on the outside.

The 2014 version is talented with several good players. However, it's not in the same league with the 2013 or 2012 teams. This group reminds me of 2012 in they have a young QB that is developing, a solid running game and a defense that can dominate. That 2012 team worked all season and off season to become the 2013 team. This team may not be great, but it should be the better than 2013 in 2015 based on Racke and Powell continuing to mature.
