Louisville 28 Syracuse 6

Featured Replies

The defense continues to shine.

Now, hardly world beaters the last few games, but the Louisville defense has not given up a touchdown since the third quarter of the Virginia game back on Sept. 13. That's now 13 consecutive quarters.

That streak is going to end on Saturday. The hope -- obviously -- is that it ends by bending slightly and not collapsing.

For as bad as Louisville's been at times... the Cardinals are now 5-1 and a hair short of 6-0. The season is half over (that's insane) and the meat of the schedule is still to come.

On a side note, most of the ACC hasn't really started league play much yet. I'm very curious to see how good the two coastal division teams Louisville has played actually are. Virginia and Miami could both win that side of the league because... it's really bad.

Good win for UL, even if they were favored.

Agreed. Only favored by 2.5 I believe. Ended up winning by 22.

Road wins are always good wins and Louisville has not had the best of luck in the Carrier Dome. After last night, the Cards are just 4-3 all time up there.

Syracuse is not good, horrific Oline. UL took care of business.

The Orange lost 31-15 to Notre Dame (ranked 8th, I believe) in New Jersey last weekend. So Syracuse must not be that terrible.

Well my only response to that is that Notre Dame is almost never deserving of the top ten ranking they're perennially awarded. Syracuse is almost certainly the best team they've played so far. They have Stanford and Florida State in the next three weeks so we'll find out how good they really are.

Yes, we shall...............and you very well may be right, although I think the QB's return has energized the whole team this year.

It's really strange to be going through a season of Louisville football having a QB battle between two underclassmen, neither of whom has any chance of starting next year.

Who do you think the starter will be......or out of what group of players will he come from?

Petrino's been collecting QBs since he took the job, knowing full well that Gardner, Bonnafon, Bolin, and Nelson would all be returning in 2015. I can only imagine that means he knew right from the start that he didn't like what he had.

The Penn State transfer, Tyler Ferguson, is Petrino's hand-picked guy. Also currently sitting out a transfer year is Tyler Bruggman, who redshirted in his only college season after signing to play for Mike Leach at Washington State. There's someone else who is sitting out as well but I can't think of his name.

I don't think Petrino would have brought in all these transfers if he thought the four underclassmen QBs on the roster were going to be able to perform as he expects his QBs to perform.

Nope. They're really terrible

At the end of the game it was all I could do to watch for fear of Syracuse stacking injury. UL defensively was outstanding once again. Really had a couple more chances for turnovers.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of all the transfers sitting out.

Having that amazing target out there would have relieved a lot of the pressure. The question is: in what sort of shape will he be when he comes back?

Of any position on a football field.....WR is THE ONE position where that doesn't have as much of an impact, as any other......as long as he didn't add any lbs, he should be just fine.

I feel, as of now, Tyler Ferguson is the game one starter next season.

Notre Dame turned the ball over 5 times and one of the Cuse's TD was on a pick six. This game should have been much worse than it was. Syracuse's offense is terrible. Their defense isn't much better.

I agree that Notre Dame has not been tested. We should find out more about them starting in about an hour.
