People get tired of me saying it, but Boone County schools have the biggest disadvantage in the state because of closed enrollment.

People don't like hearing that, you and I have said it many times. You would be surprised how many in NKY think that is the way it is everywhere, and won't listen to open enrollment as being an option. Boone County is the only one limiting their choices.

How does open enrollment help you when the other 3 schools are full? From what I'm hearing, the only HS in Boone with open seats is BC. If kids from other schools wanted into Boone, they'd find a way.

It's fact. I don't understand how people can argue it.

 

Schools with open enrollment, although it isn't a garuntee to have a better football team, have an advantage over closed enrollment schools when it comes to bringing in better athletes for their teams.

 

It's not a perception, but it is fact. Like I said, open enrollment doesn't guarantee a school will have a better football team, but it is one less hurdle they have to overcome.

 

Now it isn't the schools fault, it is the school board who determines that, not the individual school.

Open enrollment helps. Take the best players from let's say two close schools like Cooper and Ryle. Say basketball players all go to Cooper, Baseball and Football players go to Ryle, Track athletes go to Cooper. Besides your obvious two or three sport athletes who can't attend multiple schools those teams would be stacked! They would be competitive even with Louisville teams. Can't guarantee winning but we would be in the game.

Im sorry but this is definitely a coaching issue and if Boone doesn't win at least 3 games this season there should be a new coach. Yes, Boone has enough talent to win 3 games I've seen plenty of games lost because of poor play calling, and from what i can see griffith is forcing his system on these players instead building a system around the players. Same thing Thompson did, except he wasn't nearly this bad.

 

I watched those kids you are talking about drop 3 interceptions against Lafayette!!! In which they were still in the game even though they dropped those INT'S. Did not see a coach dropping into pass coverage, did not see a coach blocking and did not see a coach covering punts when the kid caught it on a high bounce and should have been tackled on the spot and ended up getting about 50 yards on the return!!! You are talking about a guy who's defensive only gave up about 10 points a game for a 10 year period at Bowling Green. And all this crap of you saying the coach doesn't need to implement his system. So he should implement your system, you build a program on your system as a head coach not parents, fans or anyone else.

With that said, the best coaches also adjust to the talent they have. I don't know if Coach G does that at all or not but I think he deserves more than 2 seasons to prove himself.

Biggest reason is state funding...

I usually try to stay out of debates like this but blaming a coach for losses is a poor excuse for why Boone is losing right now.

 

The coach isn't the one to blame and the one's who are trying to blame him should take a look in the mirror. It takes support and dedication for a program to be successful and right now Boone is lacking both.

You do know Griffith coaches the defensive side of the ball right? Kind of hard to "force a system" defensively.

This is truly the first year of that offense being developed because all last year they didn't have a quarterback who could throw it in a lake due to Lamb being injured. It's comical to see posts like yours and others calling for the HC's neck. If you fired the coach, there isn't anybody worthy to mention that would want to inherit the program that BC is right now. Be careful what you wish for.

well said!!! you wont find another guy that knows football like Griffith or works has hard. You have to have players. I am sure Boone Co. has some but not enough for 6A football right now. What do they have coming up?
