October 2, 201412 yr Author I think you are underrating Mike Conley. Really one of the more underrated guys in the league right now. Curry might play PG for the Warriors, but can you imagine him in a 2 guard offense where he had someone else to create and distribute for him like a pure PG would? You have a lot more faith in an injury prone guy who has a lot left to prove than I do. Top 5 backcourt ever? That is more of a reach than saying Conley and Allen are underrated. Mike Conley sucks. You can have him. Curry ran the point in college. Why would he move away from that spot now? If Lebron is considered a backcourt player then yes, put him and KI together and it is a top 5 backcourt ever. Just like it was with him and Wade if we are calling Lebron a backcourt player. And yes, Lebron and Wade is a better backcourt duo than Lebron and KI if we are calling Lebron a backcourt player. Seriously, what backcourt duos are better than Lebron/Wade and Lebron/KI?
October 2, 201412 yr Take a look at Steph Curry's numbers. Dude is a PG, and a very good one at that.

Because I want my best spot up shooter spotting up. Let someone else create for him and if they can't, then resort to letting him go 1-on-1 and doing his thing. Could you imagine what it'd be like if Curry had an assist machine like Rondo running point and letting him set up on the wing and snipe? As good as they are, Golden State was considering breaking up the Splash Bros., and there was a fairly strong sentiment from the stat heads that doing so might not be the worst move.
October 2, 201412 yr Take a look at Steph Curry's numbers. Dude is a PG, and a very good one at that. I'm not saying he isn't "their" (GS) PG, I'm just saying that he's not a pure PG. If we're talking backcourt and you put he and Thompson together, then one has to handle and even create. Curry creates his own shot well, but the NBA's 2-man game is more reliant on pick and roll, and the Dubs would have been well served to find some way to make the Wolves a trade partner and get Love. Think of how much Curry can stretch the floor if you play him off the ball and let a true PG go 1-on-1 with everyone else while someone has to stick with Curry 12 feet behind the line. Now, if the argument is how the Warrirors would defend with having Curry get the 1 or 2, then it's more of a grey area because we're talking about how that same PG that's feeding Curry can hold his own on the defensive end. Tons of variables in that.
October 2, 201412 yr To make splash, Dubs must break up duo - TrueHoop Blog - ESPN "On film, Thompson did a fantastic job of forcing guards away from the middle of the court and executing Golden State’s scheme. He sticks to the game plan, doesn’t freelance and doggedly pursues his mark. We just don’t see any of that reflected in the numbers, in which Thompson is a negative in Defensive Real Plus-Minus." A large part of that is probably Thompson making up for Curry (and others' deficiencies) and it not showing up in the stats as they are construed. At the same time, I think the Warriors would be just as well off if they played smaller with a lineup of: 1 - Pure PG (creating for Curry and Thompson), 2G - Curry, 3 - Thompson

And yet for Kevin Love they still wouldn't break up the Splash Brothers.
October 2, 201412 yr I don't know if Wall & Beal are the best just yet, but I think after this season, we might be able to crown them as such. I love Wall and Beal. But they're not there yet, IMO. I think the best backcourt is Lebron and whomever.
October 2, 201412 yr I love Wall and Beal. But they're not there yet, IMO. I think the best backcourt is Lebron and whomever. LeBron isn't a guard. Top 3 1. Curry/Thompson 2. Wall/Beal 3. Lowery/Derozan
October 2, 201412 yr Do we consider Lebron to be in the backcourt? So I'm the only one that sees LBJ as a guard?
October 2, 201412 yr LeBron isn't a guard. Top 3 1. Curry/Thompson 2. Wall/Beal 3. Lowery/Derozan I'm not sure if I agree with "not a guard." I call a guard the player who brings the ball up and/or who handles it predominantly on the perimeter. Some would label him a small forward. Handles it at the top way too much to be a small forward.
October 2, 201412 yr Well if Lebron is a guard then I'm taking Durant and Westbrook. I knew you would!:lol2:
October 2, 201412 yr So I'm the only one that sees LBJ as a guard?Seriously, the 5 is really the only definable position in the league these days. LBJ is a point forward, ala Magic.
October 2, 201412 yr Author So I'm the only one that sees LBJ as a guard? Nope but no one has yet to set rules on who is or isn't a guard. If Lebron is a guard then his backcourt is the best with Russ and Durant right there with him.
October 2, 201412 yr Who will play in the back court with Rose this year? Team has 4 or 5 PG and no SG, unless it's Rose.
