BG has done a great job of building a top program year in and year out. If you live in the city of Bowling Green and your child wants to play football in high school, that kid is going to want to wear Purple and Gold. The county to continues to grow and build more schools, which could turn into a smaller version of JCPS; another benefit to BG.

 

If you think about the Purples taking it to another level, in my opinion it's their transformation of their offense. They were a veer team for a number of years, but Coach Wallace has taken a number of the veer concepts and used it in his spread offense; something St. X is still trying to figure out how to do successfully.

I am a big Purples fan; lived in BG for years and if I were still there my kids would be at BGHS. But I am a realist also. BGHS is the only city high school in Warren County. A number of county residents pay tuition to go to BGHS. Yes, Louisville is 10 times bigger in population, but there are 10 times as many high schools also. If you want to argue that T, X, H, Manual, HHS have some sort of logistics advantage, you cannot argue that BGHS does not.

I lean BG due to the greater number of titles, higher winning percentage and the head to head record.

Head-to-head outweighs the "common opponent" argument IMHO. Make it a 20 year period and it is X in a landslide.

McNeil and Potter Gray are made up of almost 40% county kids. People don't knock down the doors to go to Warren Central or Warren East, most people run away as fast as they can.

That doesn't disprove the initial statement. I wouldn't be surprised if more kids pay tuition that don't play any sports at all go to BG than kids that play sports. I'm not sure what the school district lines look like now but I lived in Bent Tree during my high school years and we had to pay tuition as did a ton of us who lived in Bent Tree. Kevin Willard is the only one I remember playing sports. That's one out of about 20 of us. I'm sure in some situations it appears to be an advantage but let's not act like BG is a larger school as a result. All are close to the same size and all have kids that live in each other's districts paying tuition.
