September 25, 201411 yr Clyde, I can't see too well on this iPhone on what he had in his hand, what was he lifting up and down? I'm calling out Mr. Ritchie as a bigot! He saw a black guy with a gun and LIED about several MAJOR things to at least get a black guy in trouble! One story said it was a gun similar to this one... He lied and said that he pointed the gun at the two kids, and he failed to mention the adult with the two kids? Why? To ignore a possible credible adult witness. As was pointed out, the cop only gave no more than a second for the guy to drop the gun. It's like that "stop (bang) or I'll shoot". The guy didn't appear to raise it at all at the cop. Mr. Ritchie should be charged with at least making a false report/claims/information or whatever. As his lies led to this guys death. Plus, only one caller at a Walmart about a man with a gun, that should have been a very big odd thing during the only 911 call. It was kinda "Stop" gun starts to raise, then he is immediately shot. Caller def gave jacked up info from what we could see, I agree. The corner where this guy went is one of the "Dark Corners" of the store with little traffic and where a lot of empty packages are found from shoplifters, not surprising in a few minutes that no one else really noticed him. He picks the gun up in Sporting goods and walked around until he got to that corner, there is another video I saw that tracked him from the time he picked it up until he got to the corner. I don't know if those people even noticed the gun or not, he appeared to be holding it on the right side of his body away from the lady and her kids.

My point about nobody being alarmed is even more relevant after seeing that video. The guy that called 911 got him killed.

September 26, 201411 yr Tough to blame the officer if in fact he asked the 911 dispatcher if they were sure he was pointing the gun at customers and the dispatcher said yes.

BUT, the article also said that the caller has now retracted the accounts.

September 26, 201411 yr I watched the video of the 911 call sync'd to the video and it's alarming to me. He didn't seem to be pointing at anyone. Haphazardly and stupidly swinging it around, but not aiming. That mom and her children didn't look the least bit concerned, and even when back into the area he was near. Very little time between the officers getting close to him and the shots. Did they give him ANY time to drop the gun or obey orders? Sad situation. If the time sync is correct, the caller to 911 was exagerrating a bit on what he was seeing. Do I blame him for calling 911? Not at all. If I saw someone playing with a gun like that I'd probably do the same. But don't make false statements...the approach the cops took was probably a bit different than if they had known he wasn't threatening anyone.
