What has happened to that Danville program they used to have?

 

Talent is lacking and depth. Hope the give Clevenger time to build it back up.

As I posted in the Bowling Green thread, it is particularly impressive when a team adds some good out of state competition into those streaks. Not knocking in-state football but certainly recent Trinity teams (with a national schedule) and Highlands (playing GCL teams in Cincy) limted what otherwise may have been some extensive streaks. I believe the note of CovCath not having a long streak is also in part to scheduling GCL (and playing HHS twice most years).

 

Aside from BG's recent streak (that included Tenn. teams).....Boyle's streak stands out to me because there were fewer classes then.

Garrard County's longest winning streak was 12 games in 1993, when they opened the season 12-0 before losing to Bardstown in the regional final.

 

Their most consecutive losses was 9, which straddled the 1982 and 1983 seasons. Garrard lost their last 8 games in 1982 and then their opener against Mercer County in '83, before beating Berea in Week 2. They would lose 7 straight to end the 1983 season. It is safe to say 1982-83 wasn't the best two year run in Lancaster! :lol2:

Lincoln County won 14 consecutive games over the 1980 and 1981 seasons. The Patriots won their last two games in 1980, and since they didn't qualify for the playoffs the got to carry their streak into the next year, where they won 12 straight before falling to Highlands in the regional final.

 

Conversely, Lincoln's longest losing streak came in 2002 when they lost 8 straight games. The season opened with a win over East Jessamine and closed with a win over McCreary Central, while losing all eight in between.

In my home county...Smith County beat Gordonsville 30 years in a row. SC also beat them 14 years in a row. That streak was broken last year.

Over the years Highlands has had winning streaks of 37 (2008-10), 29 (1981-83), 28 (2010-12), 25 (1960-62) and 24 (1970-71). On the flip side they've had two losing streaks of 5 and the 8 game tumble in 1939 were they scored 27 points in 8 games(I guess the offensive cord. got drated). Against one opponent the 'Birds won the last 19 against Dayton, last played in 1986. In a dormant series that renews next year Simon Kenton has dropped the last 21 games to HHS. Didn't research consecutive losses to one opponent but it is probably Holmes, maybe Elder.

Just wait for how much pressure will be on next years HHS team to not lose to SK. Highlands will have all the pressure and SK will be able to play free and loose. I can already see it in the posts by certain HHS fans. The dread has set in.
