While thinking about Bowling Green's 48-game winning streak, I was wondering about the longest winning streaks of some of the state's winningest programs. For all the state titles belonging to Highlands, Mayfield, Danville, St. Xavier, Male, Beechwood, and others, I never see their names among the longest winning streaks. I assume that is because of losses to higher classification or out-of-state opponents, but I would be interested to know some of these records if any of you fellow diehard fans have them. As far as FS is concerned, I don't believe they have ever had a perfect season. Both state title seasons in 1979 and 1980 had losses. The closest they ever came was in 1975, when FS went into the state title game 13-0. Their best running back sprained his ankle days before the game, and they lost to Highlands 21-0. Those first 13 games are probably the longest winning streak, it may be longer than that dating back to 1974, which was the last year before the playoff system was changed.

I believe Beechwood has the longest winning streak among N. Ky. teams. I believe it is 38 games. I know Highlands was getting close to it when they lost to Ryle in 2010. In fact, I think Highlands was at 37 straight and would have tied Beechwood if they had won that game versus Ryle.

Just dawned on me to check the KHSAA website. According to the football records page, all the schools I named above have had a winning streak of 25 games or more. The schools with the most state titles without such a winning streak are Fort Campbell and Covington Catholic, both with 6 state titles.

I checked the list at KHSAA and think it is incomplete. If my memory serves me (and that is questionable at times) after the loss to Ryle, Highlands won their five playoff games, went 15-0 in 2011 and won the first 8 in 2012 before losing to Elder for a streak of 28.

Just checked khsaa and you sir are correct. HHS won 28 straight in that time.

Anyone know the opposite end of this spectrum? I believe that Hopkins County Central currently has lost 31 in a row.

Casey County lost 46 in a row in the late-90s, which I think is the state record.

Maryville has TN record with 74 from 2004-2008. Much like BG...they were in the next to highest public class. Still an incredible accomplishment.

What about the longest winning or losing streak over a single program?

Danville defeated Boyle County 19 consecutive games from 1980 to 1996. Hard to fathom now but from '85 to '94 the games weren't even in doubt or close.

What has happened to that Danville program they used to have?

I believe Casey County broke Powell County's record for consecutive losses. I think Powell's got up to 33 games at one point in the late 90's? Casey broke the record in 98' or 99.'
