If Scott does lose, it's because Cooper is the better team, not because Scott is bad. Scott is legit. I've seen film on Cooper and while they look OK, I do think Scott is bigger and has more playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. I think Scott wins, but I won't be shocked if they don't. Scott is still a year away I think, from making some big noise.

Sure. I am a team player. I give respect and own up when I am wrong. However on this prediction, I feel I am pretty accurate. If Scott comes out on all cylinders they will come out victorious. Go Eagles !!!

I'm not saying Scott is bad. I just think they're untested to be honest. If anyone disagrees that they don't have play makers they're wrong because those backs are very talented. Scott does things that other teams struggle against and I think Wooley has done a great job out there. I don't want to sound like a Scott hater because they have gone from a constant doormat in football to contending every year, which is awesome. I for one think it's going to be a close, hard fought game much like last year.

I've seen both teams play in person. At the time I seen Cooper, I felt they were better than Scott but Scott is getting better each week. I still think that if Cooper were injury free I would give the slight edge to them but with injuries I just don't know. The Cooper offense is more diverse and Scotts inability to pass the ball concerns me. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the offense Wooley runs but I do believe Scott has the best and deepest backfield in all of NKY. London and Pleasant are very good.

They have a solid screen game which I'd expect to see more of, and their tight end is solid with decent hands I and can get downfield if the QB gets some time to throw the ball.

Especially next year when CCH and Highlands joins them in 5A.

Win me over? I am a Scott fan but I like to think I am objective. I call it like I see it. Scotts inability to throw the ball will keep them from ever being a serious state contender. I know thats a large leap to put Scott in the conversation of winning a state title but if you want to atleast be a serious threat you have to be more than one dimensional. Lets face it, Scott really only runs 5-8 different plays. Last year they very much needed to be able to pass the ball against Mason County and couldn't. Ben Osbourne was the perfect QB to develop with his size and arm strength and the Scott coaches didn't do it. Ben was a 2.5 yr starting varsity QB, I bet during that time he threw less passes than he did his 8th and 9th grade years of playing middle school and frosh football. Look I know coach Woolley as well as a few other coaches on the staff and I like these guys but IMO they kind of run a middle school offense. Not gonna get it done at the varsity big school level.

Unfortunately, they just haven't had the talent at the QB or receiver positions to throw the ball. I completely agree they will need to throw the ball some, especially with Cooper and South Oldham (and later Mason County) on the schedule in the regular season, and if they want to make a deep run in the playoffs. I think you'll see them work some more passing in, especially if the situation calls for it. Agree! Woolley is a classy guy. He won't even attempt an extra point if his back-ups score. He has them take a knee.

I'm just poking some fun at you, as you didn't think they'd get by Newport:) I'm as objective as anybody, and I'm certainly not ready to anoint them as a state contender. They are far from it. And I agree they will need to throw the ball at some point. Part of their issues with throwing the ball, isn't related to the QB position. They've had great backs, but no real outside threats that can get separation. They've really had no one to throw to. Osborne did have plenty of talent, but did struggle with decision making. This offense is a result of Woolley focusing on strengths of the team, and trying to do what they do best, and doing it really well. I do think you will start to see things open up more this season. They have some talent at the receiver position in the pipeline, and they are a little better at the receiving positions this year than they were last year.

 

Tomorrow will go a long way in telling us just how good they are.

Getting really excited for the game tomorrow night. Looks like a few people on here seem to think that Scott is going to come to Union and blow Cooper out. I hope that is not based on last week. Cooper was depleted and SK is for real!!! District play is when it all matters and I expect both teams to come out playing hard and think it will be very close. Good luck to both teams
