The Coaches and players change. What is the common thread?

Like I needed another reason to hate soccer?

I was going to stay out of this post till I saw the number of posts.

Interesting that we had a discussion on Scott and Treadway just last night. This thread pretty much summed up the conversation.

This is probably one of the dumbest arguments in all of high school soccer. You should play to get the 10 goals as quickly as possible.

 

If you leave your best players in that is your risk. Bear the responsibility if it backfires. Reap the rewards if it doesn't.

 

We always want to blame the winning team in these situations if a hot head on the losing team takes someone out. How about recognizing that, while frustrating and humiliating, losing a game is not an excuse to lose composure and hurt someone.

 

People need to quit placing blame on this game and move on with life, its called the Mercy rule for a reason, its a good thing.

No, he didn't. The Colonels did run rule Latin last year in a district game but 3 were the most scored by anyone player (two of them) and one was a freshman who I don't believe had played a varsity game before. I don't think Evan ever scored more than 3........possibly 4 goals in a single game. He'd have been taken out well before he got to 7.

It's different, Luke is one of the best players in the state. Yes I said state... If you have some JV players like that Tacket kid scores 3 or 4 it's different.

It would be similar to a football team being up 70-0 and having Johnny Football still throwing bombs in the 4th quarter with a running clock. Any football coach would have his JV in the game. You can't fault the kids who are in the game for playing but some good judgment should be exercised. This is a D1 soccer player (Kentucky bound) playing against kids who for the most part play in a local recreational league probably. If you can't see why people would think this situation is a little ridiculous then I can't explain it any other way.

For the record........even though in our district, we don't actively schedule...... When CCH plays teams that may result in this type of score, the JV is called up and teams are split and subbed ...... Mostly, the older players are pulled and the younger ones get the minutes.......

 

So to answer your question.......Talker's probably had one goal and played 15 minutes only when CCH played Holmes that year.........

I saw the post about this being the Coach's second year in HS Soccer. Do you consider him a good representative for the school? Are the decisions he makes good for the players and program? Does he advance the program for the school?

 

These should be as big of decisions about who is placed as the coach as is how much soccer he knows.

Why not develop your JV and FROSH team and let them get some burn with the varsity? What are you proving and who on your team is getting better when your D1 kids drives through the Calvary defense? There are probably U12 and U13 teams in select with kids that could start for Calvary's varsity, what is the point? Anderson, as putrid as their varsity is this year, played Harrison last week and gave half their minutes to JV kids to give them some experience. Anderson's coach gets it.

I can't think of any other Coach that DOESN'T get it........I can't think of any Rec Coaches that wouldn't get it.....

As far as knowing the game he played soccer for a living, I bet he has more soccer knowledge than over 3/4th of the coaches in the state. He comes from a different country. He is still learning things. IMO as far as high school coaching goes anyone can coach a high school soccer team, there's no development in high school soccer. You either have good players or you don't.

He is great role model for all the students at Scott. Without him we wouldn't have accomplished the things we did last year or the things that are yet to come.
