I did the class in KY and OH, the hardest part is getting up and sitting through it.

For those of you who do have a concealed carry permit or are planning to get one, I would recommend, if you get pulled over by the police, even though KY law does not mandate that you inform the officer you are armed, go ahead and mentioned it, numerous officers say they really like it when someone just comes out and says it. Their view is if someone tells me they have a gun, they probably won't try to use it on me.

Some even recommend when pulled over, give the officer both your license and your permit and mention you are carrying and ask how would you like to proceed. Most will just say leave the gun in its holster. Every once in a while you may get one who will ask if the officer can disarm you during the stop but that is rare. The case where I heard of an officer disarming a guy, the officer removed the gun from the holster, released the magazine and sat it on the dash of the car, pulled the slide back and locked it back with the slide lock and placed that on the dash and picked up the round that was chambered and fell to the ground and placed that on the dash all three where they were visible to him and asked if the driver would leave them there till after the stop. Many cops will say that is going to far but if it made him feel safer, I see no problem.

I paid $75 for my CCDW class. I would encourage you to shop around on line.

There is no shopping around for the $60 fee you bolded? But yes, class cost do vary but I think there is a minimum that they can charge. Locally the cheapest I've seen is $70 if you pre-pay/register before the day of the class.

It is crazy how many people take On-Line Courses that they pay good money for and try to use that to get their permit from the state. They are very unhappy when the Sheriff's Office informs them that on-line classes don't qualify.

Is the legal section in Ohio as boring as KY's? I don't know if that is possible. I even saw our instructor trying to not dose off during the video. Granted he has probably seen it 100's of times.

Yup it's all boring. OH is 12 hours I though KY was shorter 8 hours? but I did it in like 2002.
