I agree. I keep hearing about how talented Harper is, but from what I can tell he is definitely playing like you would expect a sophomore to play when he is in the game.

 

Not ready for the big time yet, IMO.

Rocks have no consistency on offense, and the pass defense is still needs alpt of work. Not sure if coach Betty has no confidence in Qb passing down field or what, but the offense is very vanilla and no imagination. Also way to many penilties on both sides of the ball. Rocks have a whole lot of work ahead of them to make anything of this season. Expected a much more polished product on the field, after last years disappointment.

Just asking the thoughts of folks. (Also trying to get a rise out of everyone)

Carmel Gets Revenge With 10 - 7 Victory Over Louisville Trinity

 

Louisville, Ky - Revenge was sweet for Carmel.

 

Nick Stacy's 42-yard field goal with 34.4 seconds remaining boosted the Greyhounds, No. 1 in Class 6A, to a 10-7 victory over host Louisville Trinity on Friday night.

 

Carmel coach Kevin Wright had the chance to use Stacy for a 42-yard kick with 3 minutes left in the game, but he opted to go for a first down instead. Michael Viktrup's pass to Jalen Walker in the end zone was broken up, giving the host Shamrocks (0-2) the ball on downs.

 

While Stacy hadn't kicked from that distance all season, Wright said he also was concerned about his other inexperienced players, including his snapper, on special teams.

 

But after Trinity's Rodjay Burns fumbled and Carmel (2-0) recovered at the Shamrocks 32-yard line with 2:49 left, it set the stage for the junior kicker to win the game in what Wright called a "bowl game" atmosphere.

Trinity will have to get things sorted out in a most difficult way because their unrelenting schedule does not lend itself to "working on things" during games. Plus, if you don't have good leadership on the team, the accumulating losses can wear on you. I am not jumping ship by any means, however. Trinity can win with what they have.......just need to play a little smarter and maybe play more "small ball" than in the past. I can't fault the effort.

Will this loss take Trinity out the BGP top 5?

Not likely but what the loss will do is add Trinity to the list of teams that SK will crush if they played each other.

Looks like the Colerain jinx is alive and well. It seems like every time Cincinnati Colerain signs to play what Ohio would refer to as a "Harbin Cow," the supposed "Harbin Cow" have a bad season. This is the second year of Trinity's contract with Colerain and so far it looks like the Rocks second sub par season, at least in the number of wins Colerain needs from a "Harbin Cow"

 

Colerain better worry about winning their own games. They were molly whopped last night.

Hope T's QB is OK.

True, great effort. The multiple hugs and long talks between Trinity & Carmel players after game told me they both knew they had played quite a team in a special game. I really do not feel too bad about the loss because the lesson is there to be learnt, for both coaches & players: terrific talent, too many bonehead mistakes (like T's deadball foul negating the 15y from Carmel's roughing the passer), apparent (and I say this as fan) unimaginative offense. But Lawzee was there some hitting. I'm going out on a limb: if the '14 Rocks had been the '13 Rocks, Moeller would have been the only team that we definitely would have lost to ......... but counterfactuals are good only for getting you back to present: the '14 Rocks are showing what the '13 Rocks lacked. The coaches will figure it out, the players are there, the heart is there, Trinity will be highly competitive.

The Freshman Rocks beat Carmel 27-14 Saturday, AUG 30.

Cincinnati LaSalle blew up Colerain last night 40-21.

CovCath ran over Dixie Heights 41-7 this afternoon.

Boone Co won 49-26 over Conner ......... whew!
