Proverbs 17:17

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Thinking about teams, co-workers, soldiers or others that we call brother...I thought this fit well. Your Brothers are there in Adversity and that is when your bond is forged for life.

I think this is pretty cool so I'll share.

A few years ago when my granny (my mom's mom) passed away my aunts gave me her "Daily Bible", the one she read and carried to church. One of them has her "Family Bible". Anyway I carried her Bible to church for a couple of years and noticed all of the scripture that she had underlined or other wise noted in her Bible. Of the hundreds of scripture that she had notated somehow there was only one scripture in the entire Bible that she had circled, Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Well last week I was struggling to come up with something as the basis of my Sunday School Class. I thought of that Scripture and thought I would take my Granny's Bible and use her Circled Scripture as the basis for my class.

Now for the Cool Part...

When I got home I put that scripture on my Facebook page and didn't think anything else about it. When I checked back, I had a message from a lady that was in church when my Grandma (my dad's mom) passed away over 60 years ago. My dad's mom passed away in Church, the song they had just finished singing before she fell over dead was "Lord send me" which was based on Isaiah 6:8...I just thought that connection to both my grandma's to one scripture was pretty cool.

Wow, now that is a God thing!

I went to a Christmas program put on by the little kids at my church yesterday evening. First, they did a live nativity complete with the reading of scripture by one of the older kids, they would pause during the reading and sing then they played the bells with a lot of enthusiasm...couldn't tell you what they played but the scripture-Psalm 98:4 'Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise , and rejoice , and sing praise.' came to my mind.

My little church is so troubled right now, you wouldn't believe me if I told you.

Just praying that the struggles that we are going through now will give a basis for a strong foundation going forward to build on.

I will definitely keep your church in my prayers.

Thank you...we need all the help we can get.

Praying for your church JD. Been there, done that and it is a tough thing to go through some times.

All churches go through struggles, particularly small autonomous churches, it seems.

Thanks...luckily we are getting help from our District Supt. in dealing with these issues.

The only New Year's resolution I'm making.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Phil 3:13-14 (KJV)

nWo, I thought your favorite verses for 2015 would be the following (Matt 8:23-27 NAB):

23

He got into a boat and his disciples followed him.

24

Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by waves; but he was asleep.

25

They came and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”

26

He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was great calm.

27

The men were amazed and said, “What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?”
