Alex Pappas needs to proof read before submitting unless I'm totally reading it wrong. He says that Holder paid only $995 total and the JD (govt) says Holder paid $995 each passenger which would be around $5k. So to have security detail which he would have on any other flight, charter or private probably isn't that crazy of a number.

 

Someone needs to chill a little bit. An absolute ton if complaining going on. I've seen it carry over to the high school threads now.

Don't know. I just found commercial flights ranging from $350 to $450 per person. That would be $1750 on the low end so I doubt he paid the true commercial cost. I realize this is not uncommon, but is exactly what is wrong with Washington politicians.

 

No my point was the plane was taking him anyway...it didn't cost more for his flight because there were 4 or 5 people riding with him. That plane cost the same if the seats are full or empty.

Im personally not a fan, but its the only way it should be done. There's nothing wrong here.

For those people, it's less about security and more about making them feel more important than they really are.

I flew back from Vegas last summer. Was there at the same time as the National Mayor's conference. On my Southwest flight I sat on the window seat and in the middle seat of my row was Louisville's Mayor. Some Pols get it right sometime. Still not a fan of him overall but he was OK that time.

I don't think you can compare the mayor of Louisville with the AG of the U.S. How many terrorists want to kill the mayor? It would be a huge score to take out any high ranking official of the U.S. government.

Nobody is comparing the two. Fischer should be credited for not falling into that celebrity trap — many other mayors of cities — governors are bad about this too — go the other way and roll with huge security details, stopping traffic with unnecessary motorcades and such, in an effort to make them look and feel more important than they really are.

 

Honestly, how many mayors met their end by way of assassination? Kentucky's William Goebel in 1900 still stands as the only US governor assassinated while in office.

I don't care if you think I complain too much. Hit ignore so you can't read my mad and insane rants.

I was just trying to figure out if the issue was with Holder, or the government. Holder did exactly what he was supposed to do. I have no issue with it either. Perks of the job, IMO.

Eric Holder probably needs the security of private jets and around-the-clock security more than any U.S. Attorney General in history. The cost of letting Holder and his family travel in grand style is peanuts compared to other costs.

 

The real cost of having a corrupt, racist Attorney General is the delegitimization of our Dept. of Justice and the FBI. The U.S. Attorney General and the FBI have traditionally been among our most non-partisan institutions. Holder has changed that in a dramatic way. There will never be justice for the victims of Holder's Fast and Furious gun running operation.
