August 14, 201412 yr I want to like seafood but I just really can't get a taste for most of it. As an adult I have developed a taste for shrimp and crab cakes, and I can tolerate fried fish like whatever kind they have at Long John Silvers or Captain D's. But most seafood I just can't seem to enjoy. I thought Salmon was awful, Tilapia I could probably finish but it just taste blah, same for scallops very blah. I've tried eating fresh stuff at locally ran restaurants in Virginia Beach, Siesta Key, South Padre but just couldn't do it. I was in New Orleans a couple months back and the crawfish smelled good boiling in the French Quarter but just couldn't get myself to try any, probably wouldn't like the shrimp there either as it appears that they serve it with the head and legs still attached. My one regreat is that I didn't at least try lobster while I was in Maine a few years back, but it just seems like an awful lot to pay for a meal that you may not like. Wish I could find a type of fish that I liked as I know it would be better for me than beef all the time. I pretty much love eating shrimp, fried, scampi, grilled, doesn't matter but outside that and the occasional crab cake or shrimp stuffed with crap meat that is about as far as it go. I grew up on the stuff, fresh out of the Chesapeake Bay. Blue crabs, clams and oysters, along with the occasional rockfish. It's possible that my favorite thing to eat (and I've tried LOTS of stuff) is a deep-fried soft crab sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo (preferably Duke's). I'm with you on tilapia; always considered it a "mudfish". Give me red snapper, a nice thick cod loin; almost anything other than tilapia.

Give me any fresh fish caught out of the ocean, shark filets, Carolina blue crab, crawdads, shrimp...I love it. I generally catch everything we eat at vacation lol.
August 14, 201412 yr And the kids absolutely love crabbing for blue crabs. Some of the best times of my childhood.
August 14, 201412 yr Some of the best times of my childhood. It's so fun to watch them try to get a wild crab under control on the pier lol.
August 14, 201412 yr I know a guy who has a few hundred pounds of live crawdads flown in for a party every summer. A lot of work for a little reward but man they are good.
August 15, 201412 yr Jungle Jims in Cincy has them in the frozen foods section, as well, year around. Kroger supplies a good batch during lent. Build enough good rapport with a chef and they'll boil for you as well with new taters and mini corn on the cob. :thumb:

I also love red fish, which I have only eaten in Mississippi. I could eat redfish, grouper, and red snapper every day and not get tired of it and nothing beats a good dish of shrimp and grits. But I can't get past the smell of crawfish.
