Highlands 2 St Henry 1 Soccerama (Boys)

I am going with 3 of the CCH boys play with 2 of the SH boys at KHA... but who's counting... the missed minutes is what I do not get.

You are counting, apparently......for the entire year last year 3/2. But for two tournaments 4/2 and over the past three years or so 5 or 6/2. I never mentioned for a specific year or last year, just that they have played together......so

Wow!!! I was just joking. The intent of the comment was the missed minutes for the boys from SH on Saturday, not who has played together in years past.

For clarification purposes, you did not mention which year but you did say "play" not "played", I think that this infers what they are currently doing and is the same word I used in coming up with my numbers.

Excellent points.......so we r both right......but I was the mostest rightest. :ohbrother:

AllenR---those pictures are so vivid. Love that you can even see the dirt flying off the gound. Nice work!

First, I would like to thank Allen for posting the great photos

Second to the coaches decision not to play certain players I would offer the following. Coaches do what they think is best for the team. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't. I guess we will find out next week when they play for real. Perhaps the organizers of the event could take the time to look at the match ups and not schedule teams to play each other that are already scheduled for a regular season game. Especially if it's less than two weeks later.

Certainly coaches do what they think is best and obviously that is what they should do. We're just having a little fun with it and nobody is making fun of any players, I have no idea where that is coming from. I would take issue with your statement that "we will find out next week when they play for real", which assumes that the decision not to play certain players is relevant to the outcome. Should St. Henry win next week, I can't imagine anyone would attribute that to the surprise of not having seen some of these kids play Saturday. As has been pointed out, these kids have known each other for years on both sides. The team that plays the best will probably win the game but I doubt who played or didn't play in soccerama will have any effect on it.

I would agree that the games that really matter are in October. I doubt anyone at CCH has the St. Henry game circled on the calendar this year or any other regular season game for that matter. Personally I will not be surprised to see the Colonels play a lot of players in this game. Nothing like Soccerama but I don't think the coaching staff will by shy about pushing different buttons/lineups with an eye towards what will help them in October.

Since I stand on that field as often as I do, I can tell you with great certainty it is "over-rubbered" and it kicks up with great ease.

Your point though is spot-on, those are GREAT pictures.

Thanks...

Had a comment about being over-rubbered, but I'll refrain.

Just walking across part of the field I had that crap in my shoes.

I think that crap you are getting in your shoes is officially called "Turf Turds".

The thing that is very dangerous about withholding a handful of players as St Henry's coaches did is that it tells the other players that they aren't as important as the ones who sat out. This could create divisions among the team with some players getting an inflated ego and feeling of entitlement and leave the other players feeling unappreciated by their own coach. They essentially told the other players that they didn't care about them and felt they were easily replaced. I don't see much upside to this. I hope it works out for them as it could be very damaging to the team.

whatsalenyou.... Love the name! But, I don't agree with your thoughts. St Henry has a senior heavy roster. Last season it was a junior heavy roster. Not a lot of varsity experience after the boys that didn't play at soccerama. A ton of new talent fighting for opportunities to play. Not one of those boys who didn't play Saturday is going to get an inflated ego or feel entitled to anything. They were happy for the boys who showed well the other night, some of whom probably earned some varsity time by their performances. It's not about some being more important, they are just more experienced. Give the other kids a chance to get their feet wet, play some minutes, that's it.
