They should be fine! Come see them play! Make it out to the HHS game and you'll see real athletes! (on both sides...just saying come watch girls)

I would love to make that one myself, but can't be in two gyms at once...although I have tried.

Maybe by then the Lady Pioneers will be ready for Basketball 401 and it will be a good game. :D

Not sure of being ready for Basketball 401 due to they are on similac !!!! Might be awhile!!!

But since you mention it...I have a second daughter that is very competitive, so I must just not like her at all. At one time, we had over 140 kids playing for Gametime...the org I started. And I started it with the team you are talking about because I couldn't find anywhere for that group to play. But since you bring it up, what did all that work have to do with my one daughter you point out? 14 teams and 140 families...and I did it all for my one daughter. Sorry it didn't work out like you would have liked for your daughter. And you do realize that my daughter quit playing AAU to focus on softball AND you do realize that I took a high school coaching job (apparently to focus on my daughter's bball skills) that takes up a lot of time and I was not able to keep the AAU org running. I turned it over to others and got out completely so I could focus on my HS coaching, my "real" job and my 4 kids! Sorry it's not what you wanted, but maybe this volunteer parent wasn't in sync with you and should have checked first. I had the Org for almost 7 years, had all those kids involved, organized just about everything and never made a dime! So bark all you want, I don't feel bad about anything I volunteered to do. BTW, what did you do for all those kids?

Wow, and reading your other post, you are obviously bitter. Do you feel its the "right" of a kid to get fair and equal time and opportunities on a competitive team??? Is that why you're bitter? I played to win in AAU...In fact, if this is who I think it is, we even had discussions on playing time. But you apparently didn't like the way it turned out.

Out for only my daughter...give me a break!!! If anything, I was harder on her than anyone. And if you were around at all, you know that.Statement from the Middle school forum.

My final comment regarding the position of players being Happy due to Coaching decisions could not have been stated more clearly regarding the situation that has been discussed in this thread regarding PAST seasons indicating future success. Hard to argue with ones own words!!! Finallly this is a DEAD HORSE!!! Leave it lie.

You are talking to a guy that believes exactly the way I said it. But we are talking two different issues here. One issue is about kids playing at the highest level and being challenged and the other issue is about moving those kids back down once they have beat out the other kids. My question to you would be...if you are just going to move those few kids up and down when it means something, why do you even keep the others then? If you know who is going to play and who you want to develop, why even keep the others??? Are they just uniform fillers?? I mean those 3 that started the entire season were good enough to get to the freshman tournament undefeated. Then you drop 3 kids down. Why?? Why didn't you just play those other kids all the time then? Why did you even keep the other girls in the program?

So in your thoughts...lets apply this to this year's HHS team. Zoie Barth will be playing a lot of Varsity and JV this year. She is an 8th grader. Girls got cut from HHS this year. So with your way of thinking, it would be perfectly fine for HHS to move Zoie down to play in the 8th grade tournament when the time comes and sit one of the other players??? What about the Ryle and Conner youngsters? Should they all move back down and replace the others that were playing all year? Sounds like you are okay with that and are defending what SK does, correct? Hence the sole reason why you cannot guarantee success at the varsity level. That's much different than "playing your best" at the top levels. That is killing your potential depth.

Let me ask you this...if you take away Neice, you have the girls that were winning all these freshman and JV games. If you didn't have Niece this year, what kind of year would you be expecting? This group all won at the freshman and JV level. I would guess that translates at least a trip to the regional finals...even without Niece...especially in a down region. So without Niece, where are you?

First, this all started with an example of why it doesn't translate into wins. I would have stopped right there. You keep defending SK and attacking me for my opinion. Now I'm telling you why you may have missed out on two players. Again, I said to each their own. If you are saying the best play, does that mean that you are moving kids down that were already proven above that level? What's that do to a program? Do you only care about the girls that are good right now? Meaning you move kids down to sit the others. Are you purposely trying to give the majority of the minutes to the girls that you think will be your future, at all the levels? Basically you're saying "tough love" and the best will play at SK. I have no issue with that and agree 100%! But according to you, they play at all levels they are eligible for. I don't agree with that. Once you are playing in the top 7 of the team above you, there is no reason (except low numbers) to play those kids down. Even if they can!

BTW...that response you pasted was in response to a parent of one of your players. Maybe even a starter this year!

I think this is a valiant effort, but unfortunately, it's an air ball.

The only way this argument has any validity is if RCC9, or any gametime coaches added "better players" for a important tournament, after other kids played the majority of the AAU season.

I can tell you, I never saw that happen. His team danced with the "girls" they had all season. And they improved dramatically. You really shouldn't be too upset with him. His program was investing a lot of time in future SK players. Had those players stayed in the game, his effort would have benefited SK's program.

They have one playing and 3 others no longer play. In fairness, one ended up not going to SK. And that's only the ones I coached! Our org had several others that are still on their way up in the MS.

Triple seven, I personally Don't have issue with other peoples opinions. It is however looking from the outside in and that is why you Never as a coach vilify another coaches program or coaching Philosophy. It wasn't long ago there were rabid NKY fans especially some from the 9th region who without thought openly bashed HHS coaching decisions to play stall ball in the regional tourney. I for one gave the coaches credit for their decision ,though unpopular to others and some coaches who thought go with what brought you to the dance. The coaches did what they believed was in the best interest of the team and program to have a chance to win. I still believe once a coach always a coach but be ever mindful of what and to whom you speak unless you are in the decision making moment.

Maybe RCC9 is a SOLID AAU Coach and never added better players to his roster after he saw what (recruited) he had. That is not to say that it does not happen in AAU basketball, Girls or Boys so again . If it does occur in the game Why is this such an issue . It is part off the evolution of sports and it is not everyone's cup of tea.

Regarding weather the program would or would not have benefited had those he speaks of remained in the program will never be answered or validated so it is a mute issue with no relevance to the 2014-15 team.

The question or statement originally asked was in relation to the past three seasons JV success as indicator or success this season. That would be plausible if the roster is the same but not guaranteed. I by no means am upset with his effort to assist the young ladies. They have to make decisions that is in their own interest even when others don't agree. maybe they just didn't want to put anymore effort into the sport due to the Competitive level needed to continue to advance. Some athletes just plateau others don't and with the young ladies that keep getting referenced we will never know unless they are asked directly.

I answered a question and you came at me for the opinion I gave....on a bad assumption mind you. That's where all this started. I didn't "vilify" the program. I was defending my thoughts and opinions as you kept digging deeper into my opinions. The entire time I said "to each their own" or "they can do whatever they want". But that doesn't mean I have to agree with them. If I have a different opinion and state it, that's vilifying?? Again, to each their own. Didn't claim it was illegal. Didn't claim it's wrong. I just pointed out some things that could have been effected by it and that other programs do it much differently.

As for the "in-game" decision to stall, that's your comparison? In-game decisions vs. program decisions? Now if HHS would have brought Adler down as an 8th grader to play in the freshman tournament that year, then we have a comparison. But that didn't happen. Nor will Barth see anything under JV. And the reason my daughter never played JV (maybe 4 games) and is still only a JR. They don't move them down once they make a certain level. SK has their way of doing things and others have their ways. Both are within the rules. But the answer to the original question still remains the same. It does not necessarily lend itself to success at the Varsity level.

I have been a innocent spectator in this debate, but I guess I was tired of just eating popcorn. I got no problem with your opinion, I just thought the comparison you were making and presenting to back up your opinion was not remotely close to the same. I guess I couldn't stay out of it...:shy:.

I do think I need to add this. While having the popcorn, being entertained by yours and RCC9's discussion, I never once got the vibe or feeling that RCC9 was vilifying anyone.

Dude might be straightforward, but vilifying is a strong word.

Been an interesting thread and sometimes we people just have different views. I think the original point was solid and that's this: It's not an even comparison (in the context of NKY Girls basketball) to look at SK Freshman/JV win loss record and correlate it to varsity success..Why? SK has moved players up and down for positive impact on win loss record..just no way around that fact if three predominantly JV players show up at a Freshman tournament but have not been a part of the rotation that "got em there". . Not stating that's bad..just stating it's the case. Some other schools have done similar things while others look at Freshman/JV as developmental in nature. That simply means it's not an even comparison. SK will likely have a successful year as they have good coaching and talent, though they lost A LOT due to graduation.

So what I'm hearing is...outside the 5 starters and the seniors (and moving upper classman to freshman), SK will move personnel wherever they need to in order to win freshman and JV games, regardless of what it does to the rest of the players. So players that have proven worthy at an upper level can always be moved down to lower levels...when needed to win??? Example, 3 JV starters moving down to play freshman in the tournament only...That's okay at SK?? And playing significant JR varsity contributors in JV games is also okay at SK? I mean, I know it's not breaking any rules and I have said...to each their own. It has never effected me at all. But it's not the norm by any means and applies to why SK freshman and JV success doesn't lead to varsity success at SK. They pull kids down to play when other teams don't. It's fine (it really is and I could care less), but it's the answer to your fan's question.

So now I know two players that go to SK that played competitive AAU that aren't playing anymore.

The three you referenced were Freshman. Thus eligible to play in Freshman games at will.

Also No to your first statement of understanding . ONLY SR's are GUARANTEED Varsity. All others regardless of grade level are eligible for Var/JV Only Freshman and younger are eligible for Var/JV and FR . based upon player development needs or skill sets. Starting JV has no substance to the decision making as to play (up or down- you words which we do not use). The amount of playing time logged in is a non factor in the decision making as well. Yes things are done DIFFERENT at SK and it works for their program.

I understand they were "eligible" and have said repeatedly that it's within the rules to do it. And have said it had no bearing on me and I could care less. All I'm saying is, when you do that, there is no indication of future success in your program. It sounded to me like the poster was asking..."since we have been really good at the fresh and JV level, we should be really good at the varsity level this year". Maybe you will, but you can't assume that. And I gave the reason why a SK parent may not be able to correlate the two. Because of the philosophy you are stating. When you bring kids down and others don't, you are going to most likely beat that team at that level. But guess what, those kids that the other teams didn't bring down are still going to be there when they kids you moved down get to varsity...hence possibly playing an entire different team. That's the answer to your posters question. SK may be really good. They had a nice player come in that they weren't expecting. But it will have very little to do with them being successful at the lower levels. When you use the style you describe, it's impossible to correlate the two without just making a prediction.

It does appear when I rebuttal your followup statement in your post after you have clarified your position on the previous post you continue to provide additional opinions that are twisted with personal perspective and Coaching perspective. I am simple pointing out to you regardless of the detail in your argument that MANY people were very critical and Harsh to the HHS Coaches for their PHILOSOPHY and DECISION in that example irregardless if your daughter or anyone else were moved up down or sideways. It was THEIR DECISION and STRATEGY. as COACHES Period.

My rebuttals are in defense of a very common Professional Coaching standard of Criticizing other Coaches decisions. That is what has gotten lost on you. and Vilify is correct see Websters Dictionary :

Now we are back to feelings being hurt. Please show me what was VERY HARSH AND CRITICAL in my original response. The rest was answering questions you had or counter points to statement you had. Should I just lie to them and tell them that "Sure, your recent JV and Freshman success should lead you to believe you are a state contender now!" You keep acting like there is some other agenda here. If you hadn't responded, it would have been left to my opinion and others could take it or leave it. You felt it was an attack from the beginning when you had the wrong people and events in your mind that I wasn't even talking about. You mad assumptions throughout this entire thread that were incorrect and when I ask you questions, you move on or go to a different subject.

So please show where I'm criticizing coaches decisions or vilifying a program. Pretty strong statement there...especially when you read the definition you posted. I have said to each their own the entire time. I just have an opinion that is different than yours and you don't like the way I answered their question and you went on the immediate attack. PERIOD!
