Late summer player movement

I think they are a joke. If a player/family does what needs to be done to transfer (move, etc), then I don't care the reason is. Student-Athletes/Family's shouldn't have to explain to ANYBODY what their reasoning is for bettering themselves.....that's what ticks me off. We expect things from them (and, even coaches, too) that we don't expect from ourselves.

Really, Harry, let's teach all kids to only look out for #1? Now that's exactly what we want to instill in all our youth, right? Over the course of the summer there have been a number of posts about various kids going here and there - especially in NKY, and not just about Brewer. So Dad is coaching at B-town, that's fine, but coaching boys isn't such a legitimizing factor as if he were coaching girls in this instance. People have job changes all the time that do not effect the school for which their child plays.

Passtheball said it well when intimating about having a rule and enforcing it, or else open everything up. Just let every student athlete in the state go free agent, is that what you want, Harry? OK. So ... let's dissolve the KHSAA and just go all-out AAU all the time, maybe even do it like they do in Europe, where everything is club ball and has nothing to do with school. If that's what you want, OK, but you can't have it both ways. When one post mentioned that the Brewer kid could go to either B-town or Manual, it struck me as if an NBA player is considering several suitors, and if you endorse this trend and train of thought, sorry, you are part of what is undermining high school athletics.

Maybe the concept is high school sports is outdated and obsolete. Hey, some folks thought horses whould never yield to automobiles, so perhaps my mindset is outdated in this regard ... but I seriously doubt it.

At least there is some spirited discourse on this subject from various points of view - which is a great thing. Gotta love it.

In the story, it says the Brewers are remarried after a separation four years ago.

And living in Buffalo (LaRue County, not Nelson County).

I am glad family is back together....that is most important thing in the whole discussion. Glad the kid will be happy....but I will drop out of the conversation wondering why the rules exist?

Ask Aaron Floyd.

When it comes to situations like this? Absolutely. Don't pull that blah, blah crap. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

You and/or anybody else saying you don't ultimately look out for #1 (you and/or your family) when it comes to decisions under this type of umbrella are lying to yourselves.

Be yourself. You don't have to impress anybody on here.

My apologies for having hit your sore nerve, bro, and no, I don't know what you're talking about. But if the family is reuniting and healing itself, as was brought out in another post, then that is a fantastic blessing for them. It's the difference-maker, and if it was a major consideration by the KHSAA, then it's a fair decision.

But have you no response for the other discussed transfers, or are you only all about the B-town deal? There's more going on than one instance, and this stuff has been for quite a while, and most don't involve the reuniting of a family. So, what about it (hint: think bigger picture)? Hey, and thanks for the shrink advice. It's good to know that we can receive free psychoanalysis here on the BGP. Blah, blah, blah ... Nobody's trying to impress anybody here at this end, but maybe you are.

I can't stand reading Retro's post because of that font. Holy crap.

I have no idea about the other transfers. I'm talking about Bardstown/Brewer only. I couldn't give a rip about the others truth be told. As far as other transfers....if they do it legally, bust it; who am I to judge what another person/family feels is better for them/son/daughter.

Know all of your facts before you go judging.......bro.

I had no clue they had gotten back together. I'm happy for them and especially for the kids.

Although that Route 470 bypass around the bustling metropolis of Hodgenville does shorten the drive considerably.

One of Berea's best players left (Connor Coyle) and went to Madison Southern. IMO its a dirty move.
