The only game I see that Boyle could lose in the regular season is Lex Cath, of course I'm a little bias to the Black and Gold.

To me the O line and D line are the big questions. I believe that the DB's will be okay along with the Linebackers. I know Hoskins is back and not for sure about the other Linebackers. But Chuck always fines a couple to step up. On the Offensive side running back and QB we know will be ok. Receivers should be good with what we have returning. I'm not to sure about our O line. Will know a little more when I get to see them scrimmage.

It seems there were a bunch... and from Smith's previous regime that seemed like something he did a good job of avoiding.

 

Will be interesting to see if Boyle puts more bodies out there to try and eliminate as many 2 way players as possible this year.

A whole lot. I mentioned quite a few in the third paragraph of the preview and I believe some linemen went both ways as well.

Not for sure on the Date and who. Just heard that they where planning on have one soon.

Aug, 14 and I believe with Tates Creek. Chuck smith did play a lot playerws both ways when he was at Boyle before. I think his plan is to have his best 11 on the field as much as possible. He may have changed, but I doubt it.

It didn't hurt him when he had linemen like Travis Leffew, Justin Nichols, Brodie Overstreet and others who could handle playing both ways at a high level of skill. :thumb:

True, and probably 50 or 60 others that played both ways very, very well in his previous stay at Boyle. This is why Chuck puts such great emphasis on conditioning.

True but at the same time every team they played was playing both players on both sides of the ball as well. Platooning is becoming more and more popular these days.

I don't know him at all. What I was saying is that it is getting increasingly harder to defeat teams that platoon when you have a majority of players going both ways. Success with Travis Leffew, Justin Nichols and Brodie Overstreet on the line is a whole lot different in today's age. Two of those guys were D-1 linemen and I'm think Justin Nichols played at the next level as well. Any D-1 linemen on the team this year? You like Boyle's chances against Highlands in the state semifinals when Highlands is bringing 11 more fresh bodies every possession and Boyle has their QB on the field for every play on defense and offense?

That was the case every time Boyle played them in the past. Winning those 5 straight titles and being runner up in the 6th was accomplished with most of his best players going both ways. If you watch Boyle this year, you will see the same thing. His plan is for his kids to be in the best condition possible and they will be. You only have so many skilled players. If you have them on the bench half the time because someone thinks this is popular then you are only fooling yourself. Go to some of their practices and you will see why his kids can go both ways, not just 3 quarters ,but the entire game.

I'm not doubting their conditioning at all. There are only so many schools that have the numbers to run a platoon system anyways. I guess we'll see how far this team can go if a bulk of their players are playing on both sides of the ball.
