July 22, 201412 yr Today is our sons birthday. I fixed on Saturday his favorites of crab legs, lobster tails, shrimp stuffed mushrooms, fresh green beans and a mixture of okra, tomato, onions and peppers with fresh herbs and baked potatoes. Tonight...his actual birthday I have grilled ribs, chicken tenders, and veal. Fixed fresh fried corn, tomatoes, onion, and cucumbers in a balsamic/honey and cilantro dressing, fresh green beans, cheese cake with fresh peach compote. What do you fix for your special occasion meals? Do you do graduation parties? I might need your help next summer.
July 22, 201412 yr My grandmas breaded pork cutlets with twice baked potatoes n cheese (she put cheese in it when she mashed them up, so good) buttered carrots. My mom tries to make them but not the same. Makes me miss Grandma.

July 22, 201412 yr Growing up we used to have this large red plate and it was the "Special Plate". If I remember write, it had writing on it saying as much. If you got the plate, everyone else had to say something special about you. You'd get it for your birthday, graduation, Mother's Day, and etc.
July 22, 201412 yr Each son has his own "special/favorite" meal, and I have mine. Hubz does all the cooking. He recently outdid himself with our oldest son's grad party, a Texas BBQ theme. He made brisket, pulled pork, grilled chicken and some sausages he flew down to Austin to get. Built his own smoker. We served his Cardiac Mac & Cheese, cowboy beans, pasta and potato salads. No one left hungry but we had NO leftovers.
