First Round

Pendleton Co.

Augusta

I'll take Pendleton Co. in this game by 15+

Clark Co.

Scott

This game will probably be the best game in the first round of the 10th Regional tournament but Clark won't be able to contain Sharp nor Howard. Scott by 8

Bishop Brossart

Montgomery Co.

Bishop Brossart should win this game but anything can happen come tournament time. Brossart by 10

Mason Co.

Deming

Mason Co. should take this game easily. Mason by 15+

Semifinals

Pendleton Co.

Scott

Scott will give Pendleton Co. a run for their money but Pendleton will wear them down in the 4th quarter. Pendleton by 7

Bishop Brossart

Mason Co.

This game will be a close one, and I believe it will come down to the last 2 minutes to decide who comes out with this one. I'll take Mason County by 2.

Finals

Pendleton Co.

Mason Co.

Best 2 teams in the 10th will face off in the Finals. This game should be a thriller and I will take Mason Co. to pull off the upset and win in OT by 1

I'll be up at the Fieldhouse Friday (both sessions) and Saturday. Should have a good time watching some good basketball....

Maysville Pizza Hut sounds like a good destination between games on Friday....

First Round

Monday March 6 5:00

Clark Co. (20-8, 40th district champions) vs. Covington Scott (15-13, 37th district runners up)

Previous 2005-06 Meetings:0

Clark Co. (20-8, 9-4 region)

Average PPG:65.25

Average PPG Against:55.1

Key Player:Preston Knowles (21 PPG)

Covington Scott (15-13, 3-5 region)

Average PPG:62.5

Average PPG Against:60.3

Key Player:Kyle Howard (12.5 RBG)

Analysis

Best first round game appears to be the first game of the tournament.....

GRC needs this game to be in the 60's IMO, the lower the score, the more it favors Covington Scott......

Scott went over a month without a win, they aren't as bad as that stat, but I dont think they are going to beat GRC either...

GRC has been a top 4 team throughout the year, and will win the game...

Projected Score

Clark Co. 69

Scott 62

Monday March 6 8:30

Pendleton Co. (27-3, 38th District Champions) vs. Augusta (8-17, 39th district runners up)

Pendleton Co. (27-3, 15-1 region)

Previous Meetings:0

Average PPG:76.8

Average PPG Against:53.4

Key Player:Pat Elliott (9 RBG, my 10th region POY)

Augusta (8-17, 4-12 region)

Average PPG:60.2

Average PPG Against:68.3

Key Player:Josh White (stats not reported to KHSAA/not known by me)

Analysis

Most of the time when an underdog plays in region the crowd will get behind them, with the way Pendleton travels, this probably wont be the case....

Augusta can make this a game early just based on pride and andernaline. It'll be bad in the 2nd half however....

Mains vs. White will be an interesting matchup...

Elliott will have a huge game, and PC will not have much problem...

Projected Score

Pendleton Co. 81

Augusta 55

Tuesday March 7 5:00

Bishop Brossart (18-11, 37th district champions) vs. Montgomery Co. (16-13, 40th district runners up)

Previous Meetings:0

Bishop Brossart (18-11, 10-4 region)

Average PPG:58.9

Average PPG Against:48.1

Key Player:Troy Cooper (61% FG)

Montgomery Co. (16-13, 6-9 region)

Average PPG:52

Average PPG Against:51.2

Key Player:Cameron Ryals (17 points, 12 boards, 5 steals against Bourbon in 1st round of district)

Analysis

Cameron Ryals will be all over the floor. You'll enjoy watching this kid play.....

I have been down on Brossart lately, but they'll win this game because of their ability to score more than the Indians....

Look for Montgomery to run alot of zone, especially 2-3 matchup, like they did against Bourbon. Held a Bourbon team that can score in bunches to 37....

I think Montgomery has the best chance out of the runners-up to win in the first round, but I dont see them scoring enough to pull it off...

Projected Score

Bishop Brossart 49

Montgomery Co. 45

Tuesday March 7 8:30

Mason Co. (21-8, 39th district champions) vs. Deming (9-16, 38th district runners up)

Previous Meetings:0

Mason Co. (21-8, 14-2 region)

Average PPG:63.4

Average PPG Against:54.9

Key Player: Darius Miller (52% FG, one of the best sophomores in state IMO...)

Deming (9-16, 7-8 region)

Average PPG:53.2

Average PPG Against:59

Key Player:Jordan Massey (9 RPG)

Analysis

This one will get ugly early.... (sorry Devilman)....

The Massey boys will score, but I dont see how they keep it within 25....

I think Turner will have a dominating performance...

Projected Score

Mason Co. 75

Deming 43

Semifinals

March 10 5:00

Pendleton Co. (27-3, 38th district champions) vs. Clark Co. (20-8, 40th district champions)

Previous Meetings: Dec. 22 (Pendleton 77-64 at Hoopin it Up Holiday Classic)

Jan. 31 (Pendleton 54-53 at Clark Co.)

Pendleton Co. (27-3, 15-1 region)

Average PPG:76.8

Average PPG Against:53.4

Key Player:Pat Elliott (9 RBG, my 10th region POY)

Clark Co. (20-8, 9-4 region)

Average PPG:65.25

Average PPG Against:55.1

Key Player:Preston Knowles (21 PPG)

Analysis

Get at the Fieldhouse by 4 for this game (if it happens)......

Knowles vs. Mains has my mouth watering.....

Jones vs. Elliott has my mouth watering.....

GRC is going to need to keep the game in the 50's, (like on Jan. 31) to have a chance. If the game gets in the high 60's, it's going to be hard to win....

Preston Knowles has to stay in control the entire game...

Pendleton will win this game based on experience, it's the only way I can truly distinguish the teams....

Projected Score

Pendleton Co. 72

Clark Co. 67

Friday March 10 8:30

Mason Co. (21-8, 39th district champions) vs. Bishop Brossart (18-11, 37th district champions)

Previous Meetings: Feb. 7 (Mason 66-52 at Bishop Brossart)

Mason Co. (21-8, 14-2 region)

Average PPG:63.4

Average PPG Against:54.9

Key Player: Darius Miller (52% FG, one of the best sophomores in state IMO...)

Bishop Brossart (18-11, 10-4 region)

Average PPG:58.9

Average PPG Against:48.1

Key Player:Troy Cooper (61% FG)

Analysis

If the margin of victory is 14 again, I'll be shocked.....

Not to say Mason will overlook Brossart (Brossart is too good for that to happen), but I think they will be somewhat distracted, especially if Pendleton wins the first game.....

Brossart must keep the game in the 40's-50's, they defintely aren't going to win a game in the 60's with the Royals.....

Darius Miller will start to build his resume with a huge game, and Mason plays a fantastic 2nd half to win...

Projected Score

Mason Co. 64

Bishop Brossart 57

Championship Game

Pendleton Co. (27-3, 38th district champions) vs. Mason Co. (21-8, 39th district champions)

Previous Meetings: Jan. 7 (Pendleton 82-79 in 2 OT at MCIT)

Feb. 24 (Mason 62-58 at Maysville)

Pendleton Co. (27-3, 15-1 region)

Average PPG:76.8

Average PPG Against:53.4

Key Player:Pat Elliott (9 RBG, my 10th region POY)

Mason Co. (21-8, 14-2 region)

Average PPG:63.4

Average PPG Against:54.9

Key Player: Darius Miller (52% FG, one of the best sophomores in state IMO...)

Analysis

While GRC-Mason would be a dandy, I think most fans in the 10th who have a non-rooting interest want to see this final.....

If you want to get to the Fieldhouse atleast an hour before GRC-Pendleton possible semi, you might want to get to the Fieldhouse two hours before this possible final....

Elliott vs. Turner matchup wins the game IMO.....

Could be interesting to see how Belcher and Miller play each other. Both are very very similar IMO......

I dont see an advantage either way with total points, I could see both teams winning a low scoring or high scoring game.....

If your looking for a clutch player, look no farther than Jon Elrod, I'd expect him to hit a few daggers.....

If Mason Co. is hitting outside shots, it'll be hard for Pendleton to stop Turner, if they aren't hitting from deep, it could be a long night.....

In what should be a dandy, I have to go with the most consistant team in the region throughout the year in Pendleton, but it should be close, and it should be packed.....

Projected Score

Pendleton Co. 69

Mason Co. 67

Some games are easily to predict while others are not. The hard one for me is the GRC vs Scott game. I have not seen Scott play, so I can't get on here and say we will beat them by ?? points. Being a retired teacher from GRC, I sure would love to see them win the region. I just hope the cards keep focus of one game at a time, and play their game.

There can only be one regional champ....players, coaches and fans of the wining team will be very happy, while the rest will leave with sadden hearts. Lets all remember that there are lots of teams not making the regional tourney...we are the select 8. Enjoy the games, our kids, the special moments and support whomever wins in the the sweet 16.

I dont think anyone could have said it better than that. Alot of people tend to forget that these are just teenagers doing what they love.
