July 16, 201412 yr @Chris_Broussard: Sources: Lance Stephenson accepts 3 yr, $27 million deal with Charlotte
July 16, 201412 yr Lance leaves a situation to make the same amount of money he would have made had he stayed put. Not to mention it is a short term deal, which makes you think he feels he can cash in again here soon.
July 16, 201412 yr Addition by subtraction in Indy? Was he the problem with the Pacers? Sometimes? You have to love his courage and the only Pacer (not counting David West) it seemed with any backbone about him, but he can also be a knucklehead when the antics go to his head.
July 16, 201412 yr I don't understand this one. I figured he'd go to the Knicks after he spurned Indy.
July 16, 201412 yr Being a NY guy, the Knicks would have made sense. Were they courting him? I thought the market was pretty small for Lance. Not many established teams willing to take a chance on him. Charlotte is such a mess that Lance will fit right in. Clearly no one else demanding the ball like Lance will.

July 16, 201412 yr I've never been a fan of Stephenson. Generally speaking, you know what doesn't come to mind when someone thinks of a good person?... Someone who has been accused of domestic violence twice. Maybe it's a situation where he's been wrongfully blamed, because it does happen, but I have a feeling there was a reason plenty of schools took a hard pass on him despite his talent. Same thing goes for draft day. Everyone deserves a second chance, but he's never been the kind of guy whose character impressed me and, if I were guessing, is a part of the reason that one of the best feuds in the NBA this year was the Pacers against themselves. Addition by subtraction if I'm Indy, despite the fact that he's one of your most talented players. He won't quit, but that's because he's got too much pride in himself to do that. As hard as he plays, he's never struck me as the kind of guy whose playing for everyone else along side him, or that he's someone who'd be fine with sacrificing some of the spotlight in the name of winning.
July 16, 201412 yr From day 1, it's always been about Lance. Theirs no 'we' when it comes to this kid.
July 16, 201412 yr Probably in the minority here but I think it's a good contract for Charlotte. What do they really have to lose? Lance could easily outplay this contract. Or he could turn the locker room into a complete disaster. Either way, the type of gamble I don't mind taking if I'm the Hornets. To be clear, on A LOT of teams I would say this is a bad move...

I do not think many think it is a bad move for the Hornets. I think it was a huge gamble for Lance.
July 16, 201412 yr I think it is a great move for Charlotte. I just don't get why Charlotte for Lance and for that money. I'd think he could have gotten that contract or close to it almost anywhere. He obviously didn't want to be in Indy anymore. 5 years 44 million isn't that much different that 3 years 27 million.
