July 2, 201412 yr I don't think he is greedy but it will be hard to put a team around him if he wants stars around him if he takes the max. A lot of teams have a max player. Problem is the owners and how they structure the others deals. Owners used to overpay for sub par players and now it's hurting them.
July 2, 201412 yr One possibility that's starting to pop up in ESPN discussions is Loul Deng. I think he'd be an awesome fit. He strikes me as the kind of guy who might take less to win at this point in his career too. Thought I saw on ESPN or something that Deng wasn't at all interested in taking less to join the Heat. If they want him, they'll have to pay what he's worth.

Wow....Not sure how it benefits them to say that, if they in the end intend to take a pay cut. Only thing I can think is they want to gauge the interest of other teams to see if anyone else is willing to give them max deals. I think Bosh could potentially get one, no chance in hell Wade does, which begs the question....Why did he opt out?

July 2, 201412 yr Another thing....Gortat has resigned with Washington. Lowry is said to be deciding between the Lakers, Rockets, and Raptors. Deng is unwilling to take a discount. Is the addition of Napier at the PG spot really enough to entice LeBron to stay? Who is available for the Heat at this point?

They all know what the Heat is willing to pay them. From what I understand they were just dispelling the rumor that they had all come to terms on some kind of reduced pay amount. It is pretty obvious why both opted out of their contracts; but, many are portraying that they are going to play for far less than what they can earn on the open market... more so talking about Bosh here. I do not think it matters one way or the other with what they have said. It takes away from the shock if you were under the assumption they were going to play for X dollars and they play for more than that. You also have to wonder how much pressure they get from the union? It does not set up well when everyone takes cuts because it lowers the bar for all players.

Humphries isn't a horrible player but Just adding Napier and Kris isn't enough, especially if the Bulls land Melo.

They were probably the 5th-6th best team in the league this season, but they are still the best team in the East by a mile. Still the betting favorite to win the title. I am a Spurs fan but I am not holding my breath they will return to the Finals given their age and history of susceptibility to injury. We all know Wade is in his early 30s but playing like he is in his mid-50s. You know what you are getting with him. The Heat are in need of a philosophical change, a lot of which centers around Bosh, IMO. He is the guy not capitalizing on his potential. People expecting some kind of major roster overhaul with three high paid players were getting too caught up with the pay for less line of thinking. It is crazy to think they would or should accept a significant decrease in pay from what they are entitled, especially considering they've won a couple of titles. The same burn is not going to be there.
July 2, 201412 yr The smart thing would be for LeBron to force his way to the Clippers. Chicago would be nice if Rose was for sure healthy. Had Cleveland taken Nerlens last year that would be a great setup. 2 for sure studs in Bron and Kyrie and the chance that Wiggins or Nerlens develop into a stud. If Wiggins and Nerlens are who many think they are LeBron would have a chance to win a ton of more titles.

So it's essentially the same roster with Chalmers gone and Humphries added to the team. Will that be enough? They go over the salary cap each year, is there a limit on how much they can go over it? If the Heat are willing to pay the TAX can't they pay just about anything? Not sure how it works but the Heat Spent $84 million last year which was way over the cap and luxury limit. Nets actually spent over $100M and Knicks over $89M...so the cap isn't a Hard Cap it would seem.
