July 1, 201412 yr Did anyone see the salary breakdown on ESPN? If Lebron gets the max ($22mil) and Wade got $12 mil and Bosh split the difference at $17.5, that puts Miami at around $5 mil left over. $3 mil will go to Haslem. That only leaves the mid-level exemption to sign a guy. Lowery ain't taking that bath. Neither is Gortat. Pau can get more than that, but maybe he does it for a title. The Heat really are looking at bringing in a Vince Carter or Kirk Hinrich type. Again, if I am Lebron, why would I sign on for this? If I am Lebron, you have to sign the help first, then I'll take my max deal, then Bosh and Wade can split the rest of the dough 60/40.

One possibility that's starting to pop up in ESPN discussions is Loul Deng. I think he'd be an awesome fit. He strikes me as the kind of guy who might take less to win at this point in his career too.

Based on what we saw from Deng last year, I say he isn't the type of upgrade that Lebron is looking for. JMO.

I think he'd be a role guy for them and he alone isn't enough to push them over the top.

July 2, 201412 yr LeBron was going to make that much anyway without opting out. According to ESPN, Bosh and James would have opted into a little over $20 mil and Wade would gave opted in for a little over $22. James would be a little over $22 mil based on what I saw on TV.
July 2, 201412 yr I know Lebron is a max player and has never been the top paid player but why does he have to be maxed. If he is really about winning then take 15 million instead of 22. He will make much more than that with endorsements

He will make much more than that with endorsements If I am Lebron, why not take the max? I am the best player in the league- is there any player more deserving of the max? I just took my team to 4 consecutive NBA Finals, winning two of them. Any team I play for instantly becomes a title contender, so if your organization is about titles then you should have no problem paying me the max. You'll make that money back in season ticket revenue increases, no problem.

Paying the max is not a big deal for a team it is getting enough around him with him eating a 1/3 of the cap space.
July 2, 201412 yr Funny. I bet if Lebron stays people will call him greedy for taking a max deal and not taking less money.
July 2, 201412 yr Funny. I bet if Lebron stays people will call him greedy for taking a max deal and not taking less money. I don't think he is greedy but it will be hard to put a team around him if he wants stars around him if he takes the max.

The problem isn't that they are paying Lebron the max, the problem is that they are going to pony up somewhere in the neighborhood of $30-$33 million for Bosh, Wade and Haslem. Those guys aren't worth that money, IMO.

July 2, 201412 yr Bosh is worth more than what he is going to get but your right those 3 combined should not get that. I may be in the minority here, but Gortat got 5 years and $60 million and he defends and rebounds as a big. I would have a hard time giving Bosh more than that- $12 million per is the number. We'll see what he ends up getting.
