Son of ex-Spartan captain John Miller follows father's path

 

Grayson Miller, a safety from Scott County High School in Georgetown, Ky., is the newest member of Michigan State’s 2015 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Miller is the second player to verbally commit to the Spartans in the last week and will be following in the footsteps of his father John, a former All-Big Ten safety that was a captain on MSU's 1988 Rose Bowl championship team.

"He loves Michigan state and that was his dream school from day one," Scott County coach Jim McKee said Thursday evening. "The commitment is firm, he loved it and it's just like a dream come true for him, especially considering his dad played there. And his dad not only played there, but was a successful player there."

Grayson Miller first revealed his commitment on Twitter on Thursday afternoon after attending MSU's camp.

“Just received an offer to play football at Michigan State University and am officially committed to play football for the Spartans #GoGreen,” Miller tweeted.

McKee said Miller is versatile athlete and sees him as either an outside linebacker or safety for the Spartans. Miller played outside linebacker and corner last season while helping Scott County finish 15-0 and win a state title. He will also see time at receiver this fall.

Miller, who is currently unranked by recruiting services 247sports.com and rivals.com, is the sixth member of MSU's 2015 class. He joins athlete Khari Willis, offensive linemen Kyonta Stallworth and Noah Listermann, quarterback Brian Lewerke and defensive back Tyson Smith.?
