Heading to Nashville....

Featured Replies

Taking an extended weekend trip to Nashville for the 4th. This will be our 3rd trip in the past 4 years, so we've experienced quite a bit of what the main downtown drag of Broadway and Printer's Alley have to offer. We'll be down there with another couple that has never been, so Friday and Saturday will most likely be spent in those areas, however we'll be there by ourselves on Thursday....

Looking for some ideas of things to do or see (maybe a good eatery or two) on Thursday that aren't in the heart of downtown. Suggestions?

I don't know who you're going with, but Sam's is an excellent Sports Bar & Grille that's not as touristy as downtown.

There are also some cool bars in the area that were hopping when I was down there last, a couple months ago. It's a younger crowd (some college students, mostly recent grads & young professionals).

The name of the nearby bar was "Rebar". As I recall, we took a short cab from Sam's to Rebar but easily could have walked, but for being lazy, drunk & from out of town.

Burger Up is a neat little restaurant/bar that isn't right in the tourist section. There are some cool shops and bars in the area as well. Here's a link to Trip Advisor on it:

Anything really. We like to find the "hole in the wall", non-publicized/non-chain places.

Demo's is nice, a lot of food for a good price. I enjoy going to Tootsies for some live music.

^Tootsies is definitely our favorite spot on the "strip". We usually frequent there and Legends the most.

Never heard of Demo's. Where's that located?

Commerce Street off of Broadway, close by the river.

It is just up the street from Legend's Corner. They've got a couple of locations in Hendersonville and somewhere else close to Nashville. My parents usually hit the one up in Hendersonville on their way into town. Really good steaks and pasta.

Italian pasta joint? I know exactly where that is, if that's it.

When son was attending Vandy, we almost always went to Demo's.

Prince's does have a good reputation. About 20 minutes to the north of town is awesome place called Cafe Rakka.

For great breakfast (and pretty much all day) food, go to Athens.
