I agree he and his assistants have done a great job. But, it doesn't hurt to have a Teegarden or Ganns for most of those years to take the bump.

 

Coach Huff is a great coach that's why he's able to attract good players who want to go to Boone and play for him. He's had some talented teams over the last few years that have kept the Boone program trending up and competitive year in and year out. Coach Huff has the ability to attract good players as well as good assistants. Kudos to Coach Huff for building and maintaing a top program.

I'll add one thing to what you mentioned above. While he does a very good job at attracting good players, he does a better job at taking what he does have and making them into better players.

Well said! Coach Huff also surrounds himself with top assistants. He brought in Bob Meyerhoff last year to coach and develop the JV players. That move has already paid huge dividends this year with the kids that were JV last year and now are up on varsity.

I would agree with Rebelsfan, Bob Meyerhoff has taken freshman teams that really didn't perform well and turned them completely around. The last two seasons, he has taken teams that won about 3 games in their freshman year to teams winning 12+ games the next. I feel he is one of the best in the business. Boone had a coaching change at the freshman level this season which I feel will help get the freshman team better prepared for the next level. Great Job Coach Huff and all of his assistants.

Just as I did also. All facts. He accomplished more in 1 season than any previous year in school history.

1. Most wins

2. First winning season

3. Beating #6 and #5 teams in the state

4. Winning games against district teams (have never beaten any team in their district before)

5. Most Runs scored

6. Most hits

 

May not mean a lot to those from schools that make it to regionals more times than not, but after the past 5 years it is a huge improvement.
