April 27, 201412 yr This looks bad for KCSO, I'd be interested to know what the Deputies response about this is. I have personally seen officers choke someone in a similar manner as they were trying to swallow evidence (drugs) and the officer grabbed their throat to get them to spit out the drugs.

April 28, 201412 yr What about the other two officers? I understand it's hard to tell from just 3 or 4 still photos...but, it didn't look like they were too concerned at what was going on. If the choking officer was a superior, then I can understand some hesitancy...but, if he was an equal...you'd think there'd be some looks along the lines of "Dude, WTH?"

I hate stories like this. 2 sides and none of us were there to see the truth. Media gets involved and gets us all worked up over the bully cop or the punk kid.

Are officers authorized to use (potentially) deadly force simply to prevent the destruction of evidence if the suspect is not a danger to the officers? What qualifies an officer to judge what level of choking is safe? What would happen if the suspect tried to swallow drugs, was choked by an officer and died while otherwise not resisting arrest? I have no idea of the answer, I was just curious.
