Albert Pujols' 500th Home Run

Featured Replies

Surprised there isn't a thread on this already. I loathe the Cardinals (sorry Sweet16), but I've always been a fan of Pujols (on and off the field, based on what we know about the big fella). I'm happy for him to reach this historic milestone, even though the PED era takes some luster off the chase. Only 26 players have ever reached this milestone, and while it ain't what it used to be, it is still a lot of bombs.

It had been 5 years since anyone reached the number, once regularly assaulted during the PED era. In fact, most baseball experts believe only two more active players will reach this lofty number: Adam Dunn (444) and Miggy Cabrera (367).

I don't recall any steroid suspicion with any of those three, so at least they won't have to deal with the asterisk that is attached to Bonds, A-Rod, Sosa, McGwire, Palmeiro, and Man-Ram.

Tip of the hat to Poo-jollies.

One of the best players in the past 20 years and even better guy.

Mike Trout appreciates him.

Love Albert, hated to see him across the field. Hard not to like the guy.

Also I like how he's having a good year. Always fun to see STL fans freak out when he does something good

In the discussion for greatest RH batter.

Rickey Henderson just rolled his eyes.

As you saw on Twitter last night there are 3 players in the .300/.400/500/.600 club:

Ted Williams

Jimmie Foxx

Babe Ruth

Albert misses being #4 by .001 in the SLG category.

Ricky is Ricky but he ain't Albert when it comes to hitting.

Albert is a better hitter, per se, but I'm taking Rickey 100% of the time as a player.

Of course you are.

Whose freaking out. I couldn't tell you any thing he's done since leaving except this.

Not freaking out. Worked out for both. The cards have payroll flexibility. They signed long term Wainwright and Molina along with Craig and Carpenter. The pick that the Cards got for Pujols leaving was Wacha.

Pujols got paid.

Both winners.

Congrats on #500
