The Belt Goes To …

Can anyone explain why couches are burned? I assume now it's just tradition, but why/how did it start?

Combustible, make big fires, they're everywhere. Not a lot of thought going into the fuel of choice.

Always felt the Detroit Piston celebrations were the all time best. Tigers too in '84.

If Cleveland is ever able to celebrate a championship for the Indians, Browns or Cavs...I truly believe the entire city may burn to the ground.

Alright, Lexington... I get it. I made that little comment about the party you threw in the streets and now you're showing me up. It's fine.

Just take it easy. The second the couches start burning and stuff starts getting destroyed you're not having fun anymore, you're being a goon.

Everybody take a deep breath and go have a seat back at the bar.

I'm rooting for their success.

Somehow, "Act like you've been there before" won't apply to this situation.

I'm rooting for their success.

Truly rooting for them...or just want to see the city destroyed? :lol2:

B.

Just a habit from 40 years of back and forth with my best friend from childhood who made the mistake of moving to Cleveland and badmouthing the Cinti area. We've been at each other since, unfortunately he usually gets the best of me.

Okay, I am little fuzzy today and my mind is not functioning as normal because of the game tonight, but did you just say someone from Cleveland gets the best of you? He is from Cleveland!

I tried to get Mr. lawildcat to help me take the couch out and burn it Saturday night. I almost had him convinced. :D

While I won't lie in that I take a certain amount of perverse humor by these actions, one thing I will give them credit for is that they aren't doing silly stuff like burning houses/cars (so far, anyway). They're burning their own stuff — likely ratty as all get-out, picked it up from somebody's driveway on a trash day furniture cruise. Who's really hurt here?

Chucking beer bottles into the air at random and other random violence, though, that's not cool.
