March 31, 201412 yr Did a 4th-6th grade "championship" game last night as a favor….after whacking the assistant for a "punch them in the throat" comment proceeded to have 4 parents removed with 24 seconds left in the game for their comments….stupid comes in a lot of forms. The line of the night from this gem set: "I guess we'll figure out which one is your grandson on the team"….I resent that…I don't believe I'm old enough to have a grandson on the team ! Coaching 5/6th graders in the FTJFL I had a parent with a similar gripe. This guys son wanted to be a running back so bad he couldn't stand it. Problem was, he put the ball on the ground about 90% of the time. We played him at safety. Parent complained over and over, went to the league board to file a complaint that Johnny wasn't getting a fair shake because my son was all that mattered. I have two daughters!

April 3, 201412 yr When my ref buddies are officiating a game I attend, I usually try to watch game from seat away from everybody else.

I know more than a few parents who when watching their own child play make sure they sit away from their own fans so they won't hear the comments parents make about the kids.

April 5, 201412 yr I coached little league one season. I'll never do that again. I don't have the temperament to volunteer for something that nobody else seems available to do, then being berated the whole time I'm doing it by those who were unavailable.
