March 31, 201412 yr Patience. It's only game 1. :lol2: With BJ I am not likely to be patient. I'm patient with the Braves as a team but BJ irritates me. And the two strikeouts in his first three at-bats were not a good sign.
April 1, 201412 yr Author With BJ I am not likely to be patient. I'm patient with the Braves as a team but BJ irritates me. And the two strikeouts in his first three at-bats were not a good sign. His swing looked better. I think he will have a decent bounce back year. Gattis looked terrible at the plate. Uggla looked like he's improved.
April 2, 201412 yr Author BJ strugglin still. Uggla on the other hand looked great. 2 doubles and some good contact on his other AB's. Freeman with 2 homers and J-Hey with 1 in the Braves win. Kimbrel struck out the side in the 9th Wood did a fine job as well.
April 2, 201412 yr Uggla's ABs this year have been very productive and he looks much better than last year. Hopefully this continues throughout the year. BJ is still being BJ. Alex Wood and Julio Teheran both had good starts to the year. Once our rotation gets healthy and we have Floyd and Minor off the DL, the Braves rotation will be looking pretty good in Teheran, Minor, Santana, Floyd, and Wood. All that really matters is that the Braves line-up generate enough offense to give these guys some run support. We'll strike out a lot but we'll be trotting the bases quite a bit too. Gotta at least generate enough contact to get some continual run support.

I think this year will be much more difficult than last year for the Braves to repeat the same results. I don't think the Phillies were as bad as they showed last year and will be back up to form. Nationals will still be competitive as they have a lot of talent. The Braves lose McCann but still have alot of firepower and young arms so we fine as well. Minimum of 2nd for the Braves and as long as they keep close with the rest of the division for the month of April until the rest of their rotation is back, they should have a good chance at repeating as Division champs.

AB1 yesterday - K looking AB 2 - K swinging C'mon....I'd be happy if he went 0-4 putting every AB in play at this point.
April 2, 201412 yr Just a two game average, but yeah, a K every two at-bats right now, which is terrible. He's now the only position player without a hit through two games and has more strikeouts than anyone on the team. Gattis and Justin Upton each have three, but Upton's all came in a bad game yesterday and Gattis at least has the good sense to be 7th in the batting order. I'm afraid this will eventually turn into the way it was last year where people have to ask how long you can afford to let him try to work through things before you have to bail on him playing or at least batting where he is. With the pitching problems, they're most likely not going to have the luxury of a big lead to figure these things out.

They haven't sucked for an entire season. How does a player get so bad so quick? I know he wasn't a great hitter before, but he was capable of almost 30 homers and at least a .240 average. Now he can't even get on base?
April 2, 201412 yr Author Garza (Mil) and Harang (ATL) have no hitters through 5 :lol2: Both have no hitters into the 6th. Figured I would have jinxed one of them.
