I am curious to see this. How about a BGP kayak trip this summer?

 

It's not a bad paddle. My wife went with me when we went. Yes, you have to have to paddle upstream against the current on the way there, but it's usually not bad. The hardest part is, like any other time you're out on the Ohio, is when you cross from the Indiana side to the Kentucky side. Barges you usually see coming, but you don't want to get in a race crossing in front of one, if it's close. The speed boaters are the ones that are nuts. They can go by you and you think you're in the clear, then they can do a 180 and be right back on top of you.

 

But, I'd be up for a group outing!

I am a big fan of kayaking and this definitely sounds like we could make a BGP trip out of it! I would love to see this in person.

You can get to it by land as well. I am actually planning a photography trip there this summer. Its a pretty well known spot.

In the article it mentioned that the creek in adjacent to somebody's land. So would the risk of trespassing be a concern if you were walking to it versus paddling to it?

Okay, let me shed some light on this. First of all, there may have been kayakers that found it...but it wasn't this year. In fact there's a kayak paddling group that has made excursions out to it each Halloween for quite a few years.

 

And even though it sits maybe a couple hundred feet off of the Ohio in this little creek, you really can't see back in there due to the trees and vegetation that have grown up over the years. Plus, there's an ever so slight bend in the creek that helps hide it, too. So, I guarantee you there have been thousands and thousands of boaters that have gone up and down the Ohio right by this thing, and have never had a clue that it's there. (The creek isn't really deep enough for any boating traffic...hence the reason kayakers like it so much.)

 

I've heard different variations of the story of how it got there, but they all seem to center around the story of someone buying it in the 80's (when it was in New York), and having it towed up the Mississippi and Ohio (where it was headed varies) with the intention of remodeling it. However, for whatever reason, that idea was eventually scrapped and the boat was moored in this creek. And then it was "forgotten" about. However, I've heard that the guy who originally bought it, actually has property that's adjacent to the creek (which is why it is there)...but, don't know if that's true or not.

 

And as for the Madonna video...that's the first I've ever heard that. Will have to re-watch it.
