Ironic that in the first half HC led the whole way and GRC didn't get the lead till 1 minute in the half. The second half GRC led the whole way till....1 minute to go in the game.

HC out scored GRC by 8 points in the 4th Q. I don't call that a melt down. The 3's by HC in the 4th were HUGE.

That was GRC's game plan to keep the score low. Only chance we had. Couldn't run with a team like HC that is so much more talented and Athletic than we are.

Jenkins and Dillon Pulliam made big plays down the stretch. As good as GRC is defensively, they didn't have anyone who could keep Jenkins from the basket. He either scored or forced help and then kicked it to the perimeter shooters. That young man can play.

 

While Papa and I both thought the Breds had poor shot selection from the perimeter, it was perimeter shooting in the final 2 minutes that was huge. Thompson hit a big one as did Dillon Pulliam.

 

GRC was impressive, sans the final few minutes. Missed front end of the bonus and turnovers down the stretch killed them.

 

Damion King was outstanding and just as GRC had no one who could guard Jenkins, Harrison County couldn't keep King from getting to the hole. Jerryd Jones was also really good and will undoubtedly be a force in the years to come. Riley Caudill hit some 3's and Sharrock played his guts out.

 

Really exciting game to watch. Papa, AHSPanther, Patrick.Kelsch, and I had an enjoyable night.

My distinct pleasure to watch tonight's games with PK, AHSP, and yes, even Randy, who kept asking if I had any leftover meatloaf from supper. That gets tiresome.

 

I thought the 7-point Clark County lead late was golden. Then up steps the big kid from Harrison - who had taken a couple of ill-advised threes to help Clark get that lead - and scores 8 points in about a 25-second stretch - two threes from the top of the key and 2-3 FTs. Clark looked composed until a couple minutes to play when the Breds turned up the pressure. King, Blanton and frosh Jones really stood out for the Cards in the loss; Harrison's Jenkins should be a tough matchup for anyone in the tourney.

I felt the turning I felt the turning point was the foul on the three point attempt. When GRC was up by 8 late in the fourth I thought the game was over. But a great comeback by Harrison.

 

GRC was outsized in this match up but that didn't stop them. They play some of the best defense I've seen this yr. I was certain the kind three with 5 seconds to go was going to fall. The game just had that feel to it. But it didn't and the rebound was not an easy task eithier. Harrison got though and ran out the clock. Just a shame that a team had to loose this game.
