Holy Cross vs Notre Dame 35th District Final Tonight

sTILL MORE TO MORE TO COME, BUT NEXT YEAR WITH EVERYBODY COMING BACK AND TURNER WILL BE PLAYING OH KY BASKET WATCH OUT

They will be good for one year. But I'm not sure I'm ready to crown them champs. One, there is a ton of young talent in the ninth. Holmes, Ryle,Conner and HHS are still young. HHS loses no starters and only one of their top 8. Holmes will be very good with a year to prepare with their new coach. And speaking of Holmes, it seems they got better when a certain player left. This HC team had a great year without her. Now insert someone that wants the ball all the time and that chemistry can drastically be effected. Just saying it's not always a given that a good player coming on a team makes that team better. And even with Turner added, HC is not deep. They are still a foul trouble game from not being really good. To be really good, they will still have to hit shots. Teams know who turner is. They will shadow her and let everyone else shoot like this year.

Again, they will be good, but plenty of opportunities to be kocked off when teams exploit their weaknesses.

RCC you are killing me man. All year long you have discounted HC and it's always something. Either this team didn't play well is why they win or they have no bench or they can't shoot. All I know is that they just knocked off who a lot of BGP posters thought was the best team in the 9th on their home floor. "Plenty of opportunities to be knocked off when team's exploit their weaknesses"....well of course, you can say that about any of the 8 teams remaining. I'm not here saying they will win the first game next week at the BOK next week or maybe they will win 3 in a row. All I know is what I have been saying all year long, the girls side is WIDE open.

I obviously wasn't at the NCC/HHS game but got blow by blow via text and it seemed like HHS got every opportunity to beat NCC with getting Kiernan and Mayes in foul trouble and still didn't have a chance to win. What does that say about HHS. I guess they are young so they have an excuse? Exploit HHS weaknesses and they can be knocked off. LOL......just sayin RCC, come on man, give a team a little credit once in a while... :idunno:

Maybe HC draws HHS or maybe NCC draws Notre Dame in first round. I'm just looking forward to a great 9th region tournament next week.

I'd lean towards HC #1 next year and HHS #2 to start the season.

Ha ha, obviously you don't do your homework and not taking anything away from the young girls at Holmes, they had a great season. But have you seen Turner play. You obviously don't know and to say better and wants the ball all the time even funnier. Last I check Holmes was in the Regional the previous two years. We will see once the season starts and again obviously you have no idea.

RCC just doesn't ever want to give credit at all especially to HC or smaller schools. His girl plays at big bad HHS and they are good every year. I realize that HC won't be good every year but I try to call it like I see it and give girls of other schools credit when it is due and give them credit on the radio as well.

And for the record starting negativity about Turner is really sad. You can have your opinion but think that was a cheap shot to say the least. You have no idea what went on and how she has been since she has been to HC. I'll leave it at that.

Thanks to Clyde for providing me updates of NCC/HHS and BC/Conner throughout the game.

I've seen her play plenty! I know her very well. In the AAU circuit and high school. And those years Holmes made the region, the other teams in their district were not very good at all. What was their overall record in those years. Those previous teams didn't play in a district that this years Holmes team did. So you can say they went to the region, but the teams in the region aren't always the best teams. Is Dixie and St Henry better than Holmes beechwood, Ryle and Cooper this year. Maybe, maybe not.

And by the way, I just said I wouldn't crown them champs just yet. In my opinion, they won't dominate the region next year. And I told you why.

Not sure where you think I have something against HC. In fact, in the A we had a conversation about me thinking HC would beat NCC. Don't mistake my non-approval of a player transferring to HC as having anything against HC. I don't remember ever saying anything against HC unless someone has their HC goggles on and are thinking I had something against them.

The only negatives I said were back when the eligibility was going in. That had nothing to do with HC. I would have disapproved of that no matter where it was happening.

And it's funny that everyone wants to say NCC had foul and forget that HHS was actually in more foul trouble than them. Leigh, Adler and combs spent significant time on the HHS bench and all played several minutes in the 4th with 4 fouls. We had someone foul out. They didn't. Leigh spent almost the entire 2nd qtr on the bench.

We uncharacteristically missed layups and foul shots. They didn't expose anything. It wasn't what they were doing. They didn't do anything different. We had plenty of opportunities.

Combs for HHS and Lewis for NC both fouled out, and Combs sat the entire 2nd quarter.

NC played a different defensive game this time around and it lead to several turnovers. That, combined with the Birds' inability to make shots at the charity stripe and from 3-4 feet in, was a recipe for an "L".

First, you act like HHS is some big school. Do realize we're not a big school at all and we are public.

And for the record, I know the turners better than you think. And I do know a lot about the situation. I typed a lot more, but I erased it. You'll just have to trust me. Again, take off the HC goggles and look at the situation objectively.

Not sure about a different defense that caused more turnovers. They did play a zone some, but the majority was exactly like they played last time. Full court man pressure all over the court. That's how they play everyone. In fact, when they did play the different defense was when the birds made their run and they went back to man.

I did forget about Lewis fouling out. My point is and you said it, HHS was just in as much foul trouble and the reason the lead got to 15 was because HHS missed a ton of layups and free throws. NCC never shoots great from the line. HHS does. If HHS just shoots it's normal percentage, it's a completely different game. And if they half of the wide open layups, again, completely different game. But guess what, they didn't. They lose!

The first game ND won by 6 and HC had 22 turnovers cut those in half could be the difference.

I was agreeing with the poster about getting it inside and scoring. All I meant is that I would bet ND will do the same thing tonight. No idea if they did, but it sure sounds like it with the final score.

Stall ball......:eyeonyou:

Holy Cross had maybe 6-7 turnovers. ND did not put any pressure on them which in the first game they were trapping on the wings which caused problems. This leads to HC working for good shots IMO..
