Any kid who wants to play college football can! You do not even have to play football in high school to play in college. There is not one NAIA or DIII program that will not let a kid on their football team. So when people talk about getting opportunities at the next level, keep in mind that anyone can play at the next level.

It would be interesting to see one of the list you have made about kids playing at the next level, just make a list of kids playing out of state at the next level. I'd be interested in seeing that.

What aggrivated me was the statement that its not about money. Everything is about money. Its not that I wouldn't pay for my kid to get recruited. It's that people on here act like that they have reinvented the wheel when it's who has the most money wins. Let's look at both the teams mentioned Highlands and Trinity. What's it cost to go to Trinity a year? I would think that those who can pay for their kids to go to Trinity would have enough money to send their kid to whatever camp that they wanted. Thus they have these great recruiting successes. Now let's look at Highlands who spends more on coaching salaries than most school's football budget. Where does the money come from? Taxes and boosters. So getting on here and saying that money has no bearing on how a kid gets recruited is farsigned. The games that they play that gets them national exposure which is to do one thing......bring in more kids. It is the best advertisement that a school could ever get.

And, I would venture a guess that there would be a great number of NAIA players if Kentucky wasn't saturated with NAIA colleges.

Strongly disagree that scholarships equate to one's bank account. Just look at all the kids on schollys that qualify for Pell Grants. Any idea what it takes to qualify for a PG? It also comes down to priorities and sacrifice.

I would venture to say that there is a very large amount of players on D1 scholarships that receive financial aid.

Both Rivals and Nike camps are "free" in terms of the entrance fee.

 

The closest ones to us are in Atlanta, Columbus, or Chicago.

 

They start early in the morning so not only is there the cost of travel, but also likely a hotel room.

 

I recommended several of our kids to those camps and they are pretty clear that they ONLY want kids at those camps who have D1 offers already.

 

I've worked the Nike camp in Ga a few times and I've seen tons of kids who couldn't even start at the JV level. Although, I haven't worked them in the last 4-5 years so maybe things have changed.
