Theoldguy Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 2013/14 KY Boys Basketball Stat Leaders Stats are from the teams that post stats. Still seems very strange to me at least, that so many teams still refuse to post their stats! :idunno: I mean the only teams they have left to play (unless they make the sweet sixteen) are from their own regions and I can't believe the member of their district and region don't know as much about each other as they do about themselves by now!
YNot Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Do you volunteer to do stats or do you get paid to do stats?
Theoldguy Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 Do you volunteer to do stats or do you get paid to do stats? Paid? :lol2: :lol2: Lets see, so far through the football and basketball season, I have received many, many thank you's from the CovCath administration, Coaches, parents and the kids! Had some great pregame meals made by the CovCath Moms, cookies and treats again from those outstanding CovCath Mom's, got a gift certificate for a dinner to take "The Boss" out and a gift certificate to Dunkin Donuts! Honestly, the best thanks I get is from the players on their Senior Day who take their time out of that special busy day to say thanks and each does and that is the best thanks I get! No! I do it as I have said to pay back the school for all the things they did for me back in the day. I never have had tons of money to give but I can and do spend the time! BTW went to my first baseball practice on Saturday and it was great!
Voice of Reason Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 That is a sad representation by the high schools. Are even 25% of the schools reporting stats? Thank you to these Region 9 N. Ky. schools for reporting your stats: Beechwood Bellevue Covington Catholic Newport To those not posting, disappointing and IMO you are falling short of serving your players and your school. Every team keeps stats. They should report them. Let the excuses begin.
Theoldguy Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 How about ol' Hepp hitting 50% from 3. and Mark Schult hitting 61.7% TOP 15 FIELD GOALS (2PT AND 3PT) LEADERS (playing a minimum of 20 games) (more than 3 attempts/game and ranked by percentage)

I'm sure there are quite a few NewCath players that would be on these lists.
hoops5 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Every school I have seen has 2 or 3 student statisticians sitting on the bench doing a fine job of keeping stats. (But not as well as TOG, I'm sure.:lol2:) What do they do with that information?
Jud Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 One of our coaches entered our stats and it was included in KHSAA stats. Then the next week it wasn't????

(But not as well as TOG, I'm sure.:lol2:) What do they do with that information? One thing I would like to say, is that CovCath stats are done by not only me but include Mike Young in Football, Kyle and Bob Morris in Basketball and I do the official book in baseball! Of Note: Kyle Morris will be heading to Murray State after graduation and is hoping to catch on with the Racers Basketball team as a manager and or stats guy! If Murray State is smart and I know they are, they will hook up with this outstanding, dedicated and hard working young man, who has done a wonderful job for the last four years at CovCath. Racers, you are going to be getting a great young man, use him and you won't be unhappy in doing so, TOG guarantees it!
Theoldguy Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 One of our coaches entered our stats and it was included in KHSAA stats. Then the next week it wasn't???? Did he include all the games? Note where it say's a minimum of games played and in this week stats sheet, I believe it is 20 games! Does he have 20 stats games posted?

BTW went to my first baseball practice on Saturday and it was great! Well, don't break your arm patting your own back. Let's all have a love fest giving you some credit, AGAIN. One last time, I'm sure your school is thankful to have you. I'm sure if there was money in some athletic budgets, there would be some tagged for someone to do stats. But not every school has a volunteer or the money to pay someone to do it. So, please get off of your soapbox and give it a rest. No one is shirking reporting stats for some competitive advantage. Please.
