Final today at Holmes

 

Holmes finishes regular season 24-5.

 

JV also won, finishing with a 21-3 record.

 

I know ludlow requested this game with Holmes,,a tune up game if you will...What purpose did this game serve for either school,,,what a waste.....

Well I'm sure Holmes played some kids that don't get much playing time so that's a purpose.

 

And Ludlow played against a tough team so that's a purpose.

Ludlow used to be in same district with Holmes, might still be, I cannot remember any more.

Ludlow is in with Lloyd, Villa, St. Henry and Dixie.

 

Holmes is with CCH, Beechwood and Holy Cross.

 

Was it this way in early 70s? Without digging for info, I would have sworn Ludlow was in the old 34th District with Holmes.

I do not know what the districts were then. Ludlow is still in the 34th but Holmes is the 35th. I think it changed about 7-8 years ago.

Back in the day Ludlow, Beechwood, Holmes, Holy Cross Cov Latin and CovCath were the 34th District!

Yeah, I found some history of the 34th district tourney and it looks like a change was made in 1988 and then a few more after that year as well.

 

Here's a link to the 34th Tourney history, it's interesting. Sure do remember a lot of the early 70s games.

Holmes JV losses this season were to Brossart (OT) and Cooper (2OT) in the regular season and to CovCath in the JV tournament.

Can I assume that due to the Holmes/NCC showcase at BOKC the two JV teams did not play each other this year???
