Cooper 64 Scott 58 (OT)

I have seen the video on Hudl.....

1) was there a lane violation....in my opinion, yes....there were several....probably could have been called a simeltaneous lane violation and then would have been a jump ball....ball would have been Scott's....however, probably not going to be called in that situation....as a previous poster said, lots of things to look for in this situation....

2) did the ball hit the floor....no, hit the back of the rim and went up in the air, ball was tipped to the Cooper kid, who was outside the 3 point arc prior to the shot (probably the only kid who did not violate) ball was caught by this player and in one motion to the goal, layed in for the basket.

3) did the shot count.....yes....the time stamped video I have breaks down into .03/sec per frame....from the time the ball was tipped and until the ball was realeased by the player, was about in about .7 seconds....good call counting the goal.

The problem I saw was that the trail official never started the clock for the time keeper.

i wasn't calling anyone out (although it was a mistake). My point was to defend the clock guy who apparently caught some crap from others. No one told him when to start it so he went on his own.

Hard to tell who it is but if it's the official I think it is then he's a STRONG official. Sometimes things happen.

I wonder if that makes the Scott assistant that was yelling at the clock keeper feel bad? Throwing out all the lane violations the shot was indeed good from a timing stand point.

Heat of the moment thing, and I'm sure Scott assistant doesn't feel great. Not sure what he said or did, but would think an apology may be forthcoming. As for the PA annoucer, man, he threw gas on a fire. Very immature for a grown man to act in the manner in which he did. I would say he owes an apology to the Scott coaching staff as well.

Maybe Crim could have held onto the ball if 45 wasn't all over his back.

Let me apologize to the official in the video. He is NOT the official who should have signaled to start the clock. My apologies to him.

Without looking at the schedule, it feels like Scott has lost many close games this year.

Interesting comments about this play. The officials clearly had a very tough situation to handle. However, as far as the rules go.... they should be inforced from first tip to end of game regardless of situation. Lane violation is a lane violation etc.... While I don't envy the officials at all and really do admire the stripes that take on this very daunting task. They had time to collect themselves and go thru their mechanics during the time out. They should be very aware of everyone trying to get an edge. Bottom line, is they should have been on top of this one and can't let the rules break down in the heat of the moment. Its not often in basketball that officials have a pause to get set during the most pivotal moment of a basketball game.
