Lamblez with another big night for Conner. Playing REALLY well for Conner.

As someone said earlier, Bolden's shot with 3 seconds left wasn't close and hit the side of the backboard. Conner got caught watching and gave up the winning stick back with .05 to go.

Conner should have won the game. Outplayed Holmes but offensive rebounds for the Bulldogs was the difference all evening.

Dawgs need to pick it up...play like this season is over real early during tournament time. SLOPPY! Something is going on...like to be a fly in that locker room & practice.

Holmes is finishing the year like a Team that may go 1 and done in the Tourney. Credit goes to Conner for the great game. The Glover Kid will always remember this buzzer beater.

Can't believe this game was so close...here's a full box and write-up:

Senior guard/forward Daequan Glover hit a stickback at the buzzer to lift Holmes to a 55-54 win over Conner on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs inbounded the ball with 6.7 seconds left, and junior guard James Bolden put up a shot that missed its mark, but Glover grabbed the rebound and put it back up and in as time expired.

Bolden finished with 16 points, and senior forward Quinton Chames tallied 12.

Senior Landon Lamblez led the Cougars with 22 points.

So, let's settle the debate once and for all:

Is Conner a legitimate contender in the 9th?

What is the debate? The answer is a resounding "no".

There are two legitimate contenders in the 9th, and two more that could win the region with a break or two. Really, in my opinion, there is one CONTENDER and one contender, if that makes any sense. NewCath's to lose, in my opinion, in spite of what we saw in one half of basketball in January.

So, for those of us unfamiliar with the 9th, how do the districts break down?

Where will each district tourney be held?

I know that Covington Catholic and Holmes are in the same district (at least they were a short while ago) and that Newport Central Catholic is in one with teams that will likely be non-factors like Highlands and Newport.

Where do the other schools fall in? Dixie Heights? Conner?

There is already a 9th Region Tournament thread active, probably better to keep all of that there than to derail this Holmes / Conner thread.
